A very useful guide. I've made some of my own decals a few years ago, and its well worth the bit of effort to get started.

It worth re-iterating that the gloss varnish step is really important (for any decals) as this smooths the surface and stops tiny air bubbles forming under the decal, this can lead to the silvery look of sometimes seen with decals.

For very small decals, rather than using a pot of water, I sometimes just put the decal on my cutting board, and add a drop of water on top of the decal. Stops it floating away.

Thanks for the tutorial! You just use Micro-Sol? I always heard that Micro-Set helps the decal grip the model better and it should be used before Micro-Sol.

I too only use Micro Sol, never had a problem getting the decals to hold (this is usually with very small decals)
