Well I finally managed to complete my El Cid project. In this quarantined time, I have taken up playing DBA. Mostly solitude but also over Facetime. The small armies needed for this game was just the right motivation for my El Cid project.

I have used some of the advice given earlier. Mainly in form of beards for some of the knights. I wanted to try making robes, but the mail armor on the Conquest knights is not thick enough to have the robe under. If I had made robes under the mail it would have looked thicker than the mail.

I see many Spanish Knight units in uniformed red and yellow colors. However, I like a more varied look, and always though medieval Spain completely overrun with lesser nobles, so lots of color seem more appropriate.

Except for the crossbows and a single archer, every model is from Conquests Norman range.

With the army finished, I am going to start on a muslin adversary. I will order a box of Gripping Beast Arab Spearmen and Light Cavalry to night. That will give my enough models.

Cheers
Erik

Beautiful work, especially the shields.  Very cool to see all your conversions- wish the plastics had been around 20 years ago!

Those knights are lovely, I might steal those green stuff turbans and tassels for a little Dornish project :)

Your GS helmet wraps and shield tassels are simple yet effective conversions. Love your work!

Thanks for the kind words. I haven't used green stuff that much before, so this was by far my most ambitious project yet.

Cheers
