Hey Breazer - just wanted to say I've been massively inspired by your shots and am gradually working on making some of my own. Wanted to share with you but not take up thread space - this first one is set in the dark fantasy world of the Black Order and has quite a lot to owe to your style! :) http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=108013.msg1474320#msg1474320

Your pictures and models are amazing. Super inspiring!

I was wondering if you'd talk a bit about what you do to construct your photos?

Do you hand paint your background panels or are the images sourced from somewhere? What are you using for lighting (because you clearly have a good sense of lighting for photography)?

thank you all for the kind replies.

@aesthete:

the photos are 3 layers really. A backdrop (which are printed images that i like.. they always stay out of focus) The miniatures and a small terrain piece to hide the bases and make things melt together with the backdrop. as for my lighting... i try to use a solid lighting of daylight.. and then i use whatever white light i can get my hands on to light out certain things. I don't really have the money to upgrade this set up yet but there are some cool "lume cubes" on my wishlist. They should be making things a lot better. They don't come cheap though. As for having a good sense...I think i have a bit of a feeling for composition...the rest is really just looking at the image on the display and see what changes do what.
i shove things around untill it looks like something I like. They are not always great outcomes because it doesn't always look like what I pictured in my head. The most important thing I've found out is that the image needs a subject. A single miniature most often that carries the story of the image a bit.

After that I drag it a bit through photoshop, often add a bit of artificial dust and such, work some of the colours. I am planning to learn to use lightroom as well and see what that does. All in all its not very professional.

Hi!
You say it is not very professional, but it is well thought and done with much love and pain, so you deserve many congratulations!
And also you make as many trials as you can before you produce an output, which, in our eyes looks wonderful!
And not being completely satisfied yourself, shows a constantly researching inquiring mind, we are sure you have not developed your full potential!
Eagerly waiting for your new painting and photographic creations!
Thanks for sharing your method and way of thinking! Cheers!

Hey there,

I finished some archers, I had actually finished these quite some time back but for some reason I never posted these before. I figured I best do it now! They are converted fireforge miniatures and I am quite happy with how they turned out. I will likely do more like this in the future.
I hope you like them:
