I did hear there was a bit of a diplomatic incident with a reconditioned Mk1 when, as an aide to the Danish Ambassador, it repeatedly insisted to the US Ambassador "you can't park that here, not on my patch". It then issued a number of fines,  though did point out that they could be halved for early payment.

Don't mention the Ambassador!
 :o :o

Oh, the US Ambassador Incident, that one is not too bad, just a little misunderstanding.
It was cleared up by the end of the evening.

The OTHER Ambassador Incident, of course, is a different matter entirely....

Back to the continuing short series on the various models of Android in the BB Corporation 'Andy' range....

The Mk 2.

The Mk 2 model is a 'tougher' variation on the Mk 1 'General Purpose' model due to the fact that it has been built with the construction industry in mind. It often has its 'limbs' or 'hands' replaced with inbuilt precision tools dependant on it's current intended function..

Almost all of the components in the Mk 2 are more durable than than most of the other models in the range due to its intended use although this leaves less room for internal programming. This is not an issue as it can have its programming chip exchanged dependant on the current task that it is required to perform.

It is usually used to perform tasks that are either too dangerous for humans to perform or where a certain amount of repetition but accuracy is needed..

The above example has an inbuilt laser cutter and been finished in what is generally recognised as 'construction yellow' which is the standard colour for this model. Black banding is often incorporated in this scheme as a 'Warning' symbol.

The Mk 3.

The Mk 3 model is another durable variant, this time designed to also cope with extremes of temperature and pressure, as it is usually used in a Search and Rescue capacity. It also has the ability to have its 'limbs' or 'hands' replaced with inbuilt tools dependant on need. You may also note the cooling unit built into the torso area, giving it its trademark pot-bellied appearance.

It has extra sensory equipment built into its 'head' to help detect lifeforms in an emergency situation. As with the Mk 2, it is usually used to perform tasks that are too dangerous for humans, such as in extreme heat or high pressure environments, for example in an undersea or even vacuum rescue..

The above example has the extra sensory and detection additions fitted to the head section. You may note the appearance of this model appears rather 'unfinished'. This is because it has previously performed in a high temperature rescue and has some tarnishing to its outer shell. A more attractive appearance would be wasted on this particular model!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The Mk 4

The Mk 4 serves a very different function in society, being an 'Academic and Tuition' model. The design of the Mk 4 differs hugely in construction to the last two variants. It may appear similar but it is a much more delicate model where most of the cost of the unit is invested in its programming chip. This chip can be changed when needed so that a single unit can instruct a wide range of subjects.

The Mk 4 is usually made to look as friendly and welcoming as possible in its appearance and units are often made to look like a 'professor' with the addition of 'spectacles' and big round eyes incorporated into the design.

The above example is painted in a 'calming' blue tone and features the aforementioned 'spectacle' design and large 'eyes' added to its 'head' unit. This is a common colour scheme although, especially when tutoring younger children, the arms are often finished in a yellow colour to mimic the characters from a popular youth entertainment franchise.

The Mk 5.

The Mk 5 serves another very different function in society, being a 'Crowd Management'' model. This is a tough, no frills design that utilises very little in the way of aesthetics. Functionality is the key word with this version of 'Andy'.

The design of the Mk 5 differs hugely to the Academic model Mk 4 in that it is a very cheap model, program-wise. The various chips that serve this pattern are mostly based on the restraint and disabling of sentient lifeforms without causing permanent harm. This chip can be changed to deal with more serious threats should the need arise. The main cost of this model is the replacement casing parts needed when this unit sees a lot of use.

Where the Mk 4 is usually made to look as friendly and welcoming as possible in its appearance, the Mk 5 has a very different appearance. Imposing and utilitarian is probably the most apt way to describe this model.

The above example is currently serving as a security unit in the dockside district of Landfall, on Outland, and is therefore unpainted and shows many signs of wear and tear from heavy 'use'.

Thanks you, sir.
I intend to add a few more later in the year so am certainly open to suggestions to add to those that have already been made.

The Mk 6.

The sixth model in the range has been programmed for monitoring and surveillance duties, with enhanced aural and visual functions along with many other options of detection available in programming chips. This unit can be used in a number of ways from the blindingly obvious deterrent method of surveying to the more covert models which may be camouflaged in various different ways which are often used by both the civil and military authorities.

Mk 6 models are physically imposing with their oversized sensory equipment making many under 'observation' feel extremely conscience of the unit being in their vicinity. Their mere presence is usually enough to deter any 'wrong-doing'

The design of this particular variant of the Mk 6 is of the more obvious kind and has been finished to draw as much attention to itself as possible. It is based at the major spaceport of Landfall where it operates for twenty eight standard hours each and every day, providing much helpful assistance to the security staff.

The Mk 7 Stretch Goal has been Unlocked, which will see copies of that particular model added to the relevant Pledge packages free of charge.
This brings the total of models in the Collective up to seven.

So, bearing that in mind, here it is.....

The Mk 7

The latest model in the range, the Mk 7, is seen as potentially the most versatile in the series. It has what has been described as a 'cartoon female' appearance and has been designed to be used in a variety of 'Companion' roles. Chaperone, personal assistant and childcare duties are the most common options intended to be carried out by the Mk 7.

Other possible uses for the Mk 7 are in the entertainment and hospitality industry, where a wide range of roles could be fulfilled by this versatile model. Its pleasant and welcoming nature will mean it has plenty of potential purchasers.

The above model has been finished to work in a childcare facility and should prove to be a popular model once they go on sale. Pre-orders for this model have been higher than predicted and could see it become the most popular unit in the range very soon.

I like them all, particularly the hooker-bot at the end. I can see many, many scenario's where such robots can find a use. Entrapping the local Slaaneshi cult leader for one!
Paraquat Welcomes Careful Drivers a sort of narrative blog.

Slag Valley Bullett in the grim darkness of the far future, there is a newspaper.

Hooker bot is so what I was thinking when I saw the paintjob!   lol

I think this is a brilliant range and the ideas are fantastic.

They're a very nice lot - I think you now need the artist one with the mop of long hair and the specs and a painting of tins of beans that Andy.... :D
