Oats Studios - Volume 1 - Rakka by Neill Blomkamp
« on: June 15, 2017, 03:47:31 AM »
I thought I had already posted this here. A new project by Neill Blomkamp, with several short sci-fi/horror/weird movies.

The first release is about the Human resistance in a Earth dominated by alien invaders...staring Sigourney Weaver  lol

Cool.

Something to watch later, not via the nearby cafés WiFi while at my desk ^___^.

The aliens and their technology are pretty neat. Only problem I have with Blomkamp is that all his movies look the same. Still, I found it the most interesting thing he's done since District 9.
I am looking for the following Deadlands minis:  Shotgun Thug, Lost Soul, Cleaners, Railroad Workers & Feral Dead. If you have any of these minis, or if you are one, please send me a PM.

And after seeing it several times, I can only wonder what he could do if he got his hands on the Terminator franchise. If you just substitute the aliens on Rakka and their alien tech with Terminators it could fit the setting  ;)

Really liked it - best bit for me was the floating cloud supoorting the lizard guys in that street scene... gave me some good ideas for support units for a more bio-tech alien force.

And the second movie is available:

It's another story, this time during the Vietnam War. It's really weird but I loved it, specially the River God  :o

I particularly liked 'God' (who's clearly a wargamer):

Hmm, the site indicates that "...Blomkamp's hopes of making an Alien film were being extinguished..." yet IMDB still has it listed.  Does anyone know anything further about it?  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4462546/?ref_=nm_flmg_dr_1
