Not long to go now.
I just need to get a god finished and we are good to go.

Athena looks like she will be ready for painting first as I am almost finished the conversion work on her.

I finally found the time to finish the conversion for Athena.
She has been slightly reworked from a Rogue Miniatures Britannia:



I removed the trident as I wanted that for someone else (guess who?) and swapped it for a spear from an old Citadel Melnibonean. The Melnibonean will become a new recruit for my Eldar Pirate gang so nothing wasted there.
 

The weapon swap resulted in a little rebuilding work being needed on the arm and cloak and the other side needed to be done as well in order to match up.
The shield also got an owl added over the top of the engraved Union Jack.

Here she is before I go waving at brush in her direction....

Nic: That is a great conversion, she works really well as Athena.
I also have an owl for my own version which will be sitting in a tree on her heroic God-sized base when she is done.

The owl on the shield is based on this ancient tetradrachm coin from approx. 480-420 BC...



I made the beak a little too big but it looks close enough for me.....

Luckily this thread is both short enough and fairly recent so I had all the pictures on my current laptop and it was not too much of a chore to restore.

As for that sabot base: Poor old Jason is now been relegated to the role of A.N. Other Argonaut with the arrival of the Bronze Age Miniatures Heroes, but the base has been nabbed by Medusa who is almost done and will probably form the next update.
