Thanks, Eric.
 :)

Time to begin working on some Gods, I think, so that I can actually get a game in with them as Legionnaire Bert is rapidly putting his Norse force together, it should not be too long before they get some table time.
 :D

And a group shot of the Greek force so far.....

Them bubbles are looking good Mason :o. I especially love Jason and the Argonauts, as well as the hoplites. The shields for all the infantry are lip-gurningly gorgeous :-*.

My motley band progresses, 8 norse warriors done with six nobles almost finished, as well as 4 berserkers and a Norn in production. Started putting the Otherword frost giant together, and will soon do the same with the Northstar Odin, then need to paint up the big snake from the Conan game for the serpent of Midgard, and I'l be ready to face your Greek hordes.

Good news, mate!
You have certainly been churning them out lately.
Not too long, eh?

I had better hurry up with some Gods or you will be waiting for me!
 :D

I have now added Athena to the list of my intended Greek God options, as I have the ideal subject for a conversion, I reckon.
I know where I am going with Pan now as well, I just need to source the parts.
Oh, and Dryads will be being thrown into the mix as well.
You may have guessed that a rummage in my bits box has been quite fruitful.
 ;)

So that means I have a small list for additions to the Greeks as follows:

Ares/Hades (Depends on how I feel when converting the North Star model)
Pan (To source and convert/sculpt.
Athena (Minor conversion/sculpt to do on an existing model)
Dryads (Again, minor work)
Centaurs (purchase or convert, undecided at present.
Harpies (Old Skool Citadel classics to strip and paint)

So, it will be a while before I move on to my own Norse.....

Hi Mason,
Just now found some time to follow up this thread and admire your excellent work!
Beyond my admiration some tips that might be useful to enrich your collection:

1.- temple ruins: Greek history is always old and full of adventures, so, it is easy to find  on every given time at least some ruins to place them your figures. Not to mention the abandoned pieces everywhere. Please do not hesitate to use complete and/or ruined architecturals to enrich your terrain/bases etc.

2.- Pan was never a "warrior" god he was a goatlegged "Human" who enjoyed himself with satyrs and maenads. The only one figure I think it exists (I am not sure about foundry) it is one of Willie figures (http://www.traditionoflondonshop.com/en/product_info.php?products_id=9274&p=A_18_Pan_with_Goats_Legs_30mm_Willie_Foot_Kit ) marketed by Tradition of London
Not the best figure as I can judge from their photo. It's listed as 30mm, so, it might suit you.
It seems also that it comes open handed, so an easy conversion for talented people like you.

3.- Maenads (possibly those Dryads you mention) are raged  females armed with knives ready to massacre anyone to disturb their rituals!

and a question:
I like very much the "sabot base" you use for Jason. Is it scratchbuilt and what part you used for the ruined column?

argsilverson:
Thanks for taking the time for such a lengthy response.
 :)

Regarding your points raised...

Regarding Pan...
I am planning a fairly 'human-sized' God and am aware of his 'frolicking'  and have something in mind for him, I just need to either find the appropriate parts for the planned option or maybe use this fella, which I am leaning towards as it would make life quicker and easier...

As for Maenads: I also have something in mind for my Dryad option that I found in my bits box yesterday, with the added bonus of already having them, being very easy to convert and fitting in nicely with the planned option for Pan, I think they should fit the bill nicely.
 ;)

The Sabot base: It is simply a plain 40mm resin lipped base that I have added a broken column and a little green stuff which I pressed the figures base into to create a depression that he sits in firmly and then covered the resulting mess in scenic materials to disguise the join. Easy.
I do not recall where the column cane from, but can confirm it is an existing resin piece from somewhere. Sorry.

Ruins: That is a good point that Greece has an extremely long history so that ruins are still an option.
I may use this earlier piece that I made for Mordheim.

I know the Weeping Angels are not exactly Greek but I figure that this is Mythology so I could probably get away with it. That hammer shaped headstone would also be easy to cover or shorten. It would save me having to build anything new from scratch at the very least.
 ;)

i 'm very interested to see your version of the Maenads as i have planed (a long time ago) a "woody" warband for OGAM.

Cheers

I am not too sure that my versions will fit the description of Maenids, which seem much more 'frenzied' than what I have in mind, which are more along the lines of Dryads.
Something like this, maybe....

Maybe 15mm scale columns would work..?
If I find any I will let you know.
