No. 24 Infantry man from the Berwick Battalion- War of Spanish Succession

I'm not much of a 28mm painter as I have not mastered the art of blending, shadows, highlights etc... So I hope this passes its inspection.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen,

with all these fascinating posts so far I also want to make my contribution to this painting club:

This gentleman is an officer of the Virginia militia serving with the ill fated Monongahela-campaign in 1755. After his escape he settled in a frontier fur post, now leading the regional militia angainst French an Indian attacks.

This is one of the superb minis of Galloping Major, a very nice one!

Cheers Hannibal

Nice to see this chap Hannibal, excellent work  8)

Loving that marine, Cap. He's gorgeous.

He appears, though, to have found a small grassy islet from which to snipe at the Dons and the Froggies. Not a part of the story of the battle I'm familiar with! Either that or they've let the deck of the Saucy Temeraire get in one hell of a state, such as would give any bosun the conniptions. lol

lol

I knew someone would say that.

He is, in fact, shooting from the small on-board vegetable garden on HMS Victory.
(Not many people know about the Royal Navy's early efforts to combat scurvy by siting small raised beds growing salad vegetables just above the poop deck on all first rate ships of the line...  8))

Surely, positioning of the vegetable  garden below the poop deck would facilitate more efficient fertilisation...... :D

Great figures all. A most impressive club.  8)

Hurray. Another marine. Nice job on a great figure :)

(I think he's by Brigade Games rather than Warlord Games though - at least that's where mine came from. Brigade picked up the ex-Victrix metals when they decided to go plastic only).

I don't generally base individual figures (even my staff figures are in vignettes).  So this is a Dixon Albanian infantry man from their Ottoman range.  I'm currently trying to work out whether to use this, limited, range of figures or another as yet undetermined manufacturer.  They are small by current standards but lovely all the same.
