Dux Bellorum - Late Romans in Britain v Picts. 28mm figures on big bases. The aim is to get everyone’s bases to a 100mm frontage.

Kill Zone - it’s been a long time.

I thought I should try and refresh my memory of KZ, not having played it this decade - I’m planning to run a game at AshLAM19 (which is the follow-up on DevLAM17: https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=105082.0
and DevLAM18: https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=113083.0)
so I dragged out my venerable scenery, including the Matakishi cork-tile buildings, which hasn’t seen the light of day for 12years+ and set to with a very simple solo scenario.

Fast, fun and furious -report here:

12 years? Has it been that long since last saw Matakishis cork builds. That’s scary! :o :)

I recently was on holiday/vacation in Florida (from the UK) which happened to coincide with this years Hurricon in Kissimmee.

I was only able to attend for the morning & afternoon sessions on the Friday, but did get to play in two very enjoyable games.

The first was 'Retribution' - The Dutch West Indies Company has located the pirates that have caused so much trouble (The Sword in Africa rules)

In the afternoon it was 'Death above the waves' - March 1942: 39 Sqn attempts to prevent a supply convoy reaching Rommel in North Africa (Blue Sky rules)

Oooh, fun board for the "Retribution" game!

At the FLGS today we did a fun small game of Bolt Action with a couple of new players, and the ferocity of the Resistance blitzkrieg unleashed!

It turns out that having a veritable convoy of civilian vehicles is a really good recipe for the Top Secret scenario:

That looked like great fun and reminded me of some of the games I played just before discovering rules for wargaming using Dinky and Corgi toys and the rubber Triang buildings with Britain’s and Timpo soldiers. Happy days.  :)

Just setting up here. My Saxons faced off against Vikings and despite rolling 6+ dice for most turns bar the last, which was 5, I rolled one helmet meaning my Saxons never fully realised their potential. The helmet came at the very start of the game and I held onto it for a turn or two to try and wait for the timing. That said, I mainly lost in the end due to poorly positioning my warlord who thought he was using his presence to gee up his hearth-guard who swiftly got slaughted and then the pagans were upon him and cut him down.

Next up, buying my warlord a horse.
