Nord's Fantastic Saga (Oct 31 the Lord and his Guardians)
« on: July 04, 2017, 07:37:11 PM »
A little background before the pictures. I collected and played WHFB for a good few years off and on, starting way back in the early 90's and then stumbling to a halt just before the End Times series. Nowadays I tend to play skirmish games like Fantastic Saga or Dragon Rampant, but mostly I just paint for the fun of it. Having said that, I keep motivated if there's an aim in mind and currently it's all about Fantastic Saga so most of my projects are based around this system. This means typically units of eight or twelve.

I have a couple of forces that I am part way through, but my main focus at the moment is some Undead. I started playing Undead way back in my early WHFB days when they were still called Undead - my first army had skeletons and zombies shuffling alongside mummies and carrion, led by a Liche. Then I progressed on to Vampire Counts and have a fairly big collection all mounted on multi bases. This new round based force is more of the same, but with a few little twists. My first unit is an example of this - some ghouls led by a ghoul master/butcher. In Fantastic Saga this is two points as the butcher counts as a monster - my long term aim is to have 12 or more points to choose from for each force.

Enough blah......

These are The Hobbit goblins with a few bits (handbags) trimmed off, plus an old metal Ogre Kingdoms butcher.

Wow! Those are astonishingly good!

Those goblins must rank as some of the best figures ever produced for everything except what they're meant to be. But these are best iteration of them that I've seen. Brilliant!

excellent stuff. I have to admit I dont know fantastic Saga but I think I am likeminded to you. used to be a fantasy player too but now I'm more interested in finishing myself a nice Lion Rampant force.

Keep up the good work here!

Do I even have to say that I like them?  lol

More fantastic stuff for Fantastic Saga!

btw, Ive got two new factions in the making since last year, and the test phase for them is almost over.
Just depends on how many games I can fit in over the next few weeks.
So keep an eye out!

Incredible!
That old necromancer figure is good at the best of times but that whole unit is just...wow.
