Airboat/ iceboat.
« on: July 08, 2017, 02:38:24 PM »
Here's a concept that's been gathering dust. Simply because (I can't think of any real reason other than it has.)
I've made a similar model for another range. But this one is pure Pulp. It will fit GW style  25mm round bases no problem.
If you chaps like the idea . Then it'll be cast, otherwise it'll be painted and join my ever growing pulp vehicles collection.

Mark.

GATOR!!!

Sorry, first thought at seeing an airboat - I think it would make a great post-apo vehicle, considering the likelihood of flooding in coastal areas from many end-of-the-world scenarios.

Seems like there's plenty of locations and eras where that's be a useful bit of kit, from Louisiana bayous, to the frozen north (with ski runners added), to the jungles of southeast Asia.

It was a bit too warm earlier to post the other options (the tack kept stretching).
So here's the other (most obvious) ways to combine the parts.
Even the big cab tucked under the bench seat there's still room for the thickness of a GW base.

Gdonk,
Any thing pulp 1st Corps.

Glad you like Matt ,after id done the card Shay engine. I started to think of something else to do in card that would work in a similar way on a table. But I ran out of card building planes and a 2ft Ether Flyer. So it ended up in plastic

I like this very much. Put a small flying base on it and you got some kind of dune skimmer.

Like that a lot. Will happily get one from the boys if/when it's cast.

Very nice and unique. I would be interested in one for my Post Apocalyptic stuff.

Ok then I'll get this added to the next wave of casts for the 20th century follies.
Couple of questions, would you prefer it to come with a Pilot or not?(do you pilot and air boat,or drive, or even sail one?)
If so a generic one ,or two different options a cold weather version of the kit, and a separate hot weather version ?(basically shirts and cap,or parka and bobble hat)

Maybe sculpt both cold and hot options, but offer a choice of one pilot per purchase to each buyer?

Or they could be separate add-ons.

I would go with a no-pilot option myself.  I would rather have a lower cost and no pilot - I can make a pilot myself for whatever genre I might be using it for (which in my case, could be any one of four I can think of off-hand).

I like that the pilot stands. That way whatever figure runs up and steals the craft could pilot it. So, I think I would prefer an empty boat option.

Q: how many figs on 25mm round bases will fit in the lower part of the hull? Is the hull interior 51mm wide? (25+25+1 more for clearance)

If it is possible, not too late, I would suggest modding the design so that it could carry 4 or 6 figures (in a 4pack or 6pack configuration) before casting multiples.
