The Dr. is good, but if you can find any of these reprints:

http://www.amazon.com/Man-Bronze-Land-Terror-Savage/dp/1932806903/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1237919228&sr=8-1

THIS doctor is always a good read. :)

Nostalgia Ventures is publishing nice reprints of the original Doc Savage and The Shadow magazines.

I picked up a few on sale at Borders for $5.

Doc Savage, The Shadow, The avenger, Operator 5, they're all good reads, but my personal favorite is The Spider. He gives a whole new meaning to "over the top." All of these are available as reprints in many forms over the years.
We haul ours to kick theirs.

I've been gobbling up the 'Mega-Packs' on Kindle for a few months now and there's a vast amount of pulp collections on there for pence. I started off with the complete 'Bulldog Drummond' collection and now it keeps recommending other pulp stuff to me, which I inevitably take, since it's always less than 50p for a huge amount of fiction.
'Sir John ejaculated explosively, sitting up in his chair.' ... 'The Black Gang'.

You might consider "Mark of the Lion" by Suzanne Arruda. This is the start of a recent series. The protagonist is a woman from New Mexico named Jade del Cameron who drives an ambulance during WW1 and then travels to British East Africa after the war. There's a bit of mystery, treasure, romance, adventure, and the supernatural involved. It's a bit pulpy in a modern way.

Orctrader, thanks for the suggestion of John Buchan's Greenmantle. I found it in a public library and I'm reading it now. Writing style is a bit dated, but the spy adventure across Europe in the middle of WW1 is pretty interesting so far.

Shanghai Station by Bartle Bull is another book that I checked that one out of my local public library. Ex-pat White Russians in Shanghai in 1917 and after has to be a good topic:

Master of Rain by Tom Bradby is another book about White Russians in Shanghai that I want to check out:

Master of Rain is an excellent book. I wouldn't call it pulp, though - it's more espionage/intrigue. That said, I highly recommend it.

If you go for Fu Manchu, skip the first book. It is three short stories strung together.
