Scooby Doo Solo Rules?
« on: July 16, 2017, 12:34:39 AM »
Ok, so I fancy a bit of Scooby Gang action. Realistically, I wull be playing with myself on this one. Does anyone have recomendations for a set of rules (preferably in the "Amazingly Inexpensive!" category) that would fit my needs?

Thank you.

You can download the free version of Pulp Alley for starters. But you'll probably want to get the full rulebook and Solo deck.

Pulp Alley might work well.

The main to think about is that the plot of an average Scooby episode is:  Investigate mystery -> Running around/fighting menace -> Unmask Old Man Whithers (or whoever). And then looking at rules sets to see what best fits that model.

Pulp Alley does have an investigative component in plot points, but you might want something more linear.

.45 Adventures is worth a look. You can download free demo rules here:

I think I have the Pulp Alley demo floating about on a computer somewhere. And I will take a look at the .45 Adventures demo as well.

Thank you!

Plus Pulp Alley has solo rules as well.  7TV would be another good choice, but that does not have solo rules.  It does have a free Scooby Doo supplement though.

I've played several games of Pulp Alley with the Scooby Doo league and it has been great fun, they are a very non combat orientated investigative league, and now their is a Solo Deck for Pulp Alley that should work very well.

Who makes the figures for the Scooby gang?  That may be the perfect way to get my grand daughter into gaming.

The 2 big advantages of Pulp Alley over most other rulesets in this area would be:
1. Investigation based scenarios. With a few exceptions, most scenarios are won by racing to and overcoming the obstacles between you and particular "plot points"
2. The game has 3 non-combat skills, which allows for a bit of diversity in a gang without much combat potential. Each character can still have his or her niché and come in handy in different situations.
