A long time ago is a town far far away (Margate I think), I was driving along minding my own business and saw some Star Wars models in the front window of what was basically a junk shop. I stopped and bought them for a few quid each thinking about conversion possibilities. So, twenty plus years later I have decided to start on the first one. What was a GR-75 Transport will become a ship for 25mm models for games such as Rogue Stars and general sci-fi.

Inside there is plenty of space for models, I just need to make some decks, stairs and fill it with Ainsty and Antonocities bits.

I also need to make some landing gear as I want it to sit higher off the ground so models can access a central ramp.

I had one sitting around here for years and eventually sold it on last year.
Bearing that in mind I shall be watching with interest to see what you do with it*.

There was a thread many years back in internet terms on dakka dakka where someone converted one of these into a private Inquisitorial shuttle, with full interior, crew and detailing. It was really nicely done and did just enough to not look star warsy without destroying the design of the shuttle.

I have started on the landing gear so I can then start on the access ramp.

I have some green widgets from a kids game which will make a good starting point. Using a hex base allows for three "toes" per foot to be easily made.

Do I use another round base on the bottom (left) or not (right)?

This extra round base would raise the base a bit and have the "toes" at an angle.

Left would be best. It adds a little extra level of detail as well  :)

Made some progress with four landing struts.

I have added some magnets so the struts can be removable from the hull.

The three "toes" on each strut will need reinforcing so they don't break off too easily.

...should I have six on each strut?

I went looking for it after seeing this thread but I'm afraid it's been lost to depths of google.

With magnets in place in the hull, the landing gear will now stay in place.

Need to get cracking on the boarding ramp and the inside stuff next.

Started working on where stuff will go inside the ship.

I want to have plenty of room for models, so I'm keeping it sparse for the moment.

It might be a bit late (only thought about it once I saw the above pic), but have you considered only using bulkheads to make compartments and a sheet of thin steel beneath the flooring? You could then add magnets to the bottoms of the various accessories to vary their actual placement.

All very intriguing and promising, anyway.

I thought the same to a certain point, some of the interior resin will used to support internal walls, some of the other free standing furniture will have magnets so it can be swapped out or just removed.

I decided to add some LEDs for fun, although it has taken a lot longer than I thought it would.

Then I added even more.

I used some Lego bricks to make some LED housings which I hope will make the job of integrating them into the bridge area a bit easier.
