The Lost Bladesman
« on: July 18, 2017, 11:53:24 AM »
Hey folks, I'm looking for a 28mm miniature suitable for use as Guan Yu, on foot.

I'm certainly not going to complain if it looks like Donnie Yen, either.

Thanks in advance.

There are Chinese plastic kits in roughly 1/48th that work ok as heroic scale. This guy converted onto standing legs might work?

Thanks for the help, disappointing there aren't a lot of options.

What about something like the Watchful I officer on foot with a weapon swap?

Then I'd just need to find the polearm?

Dynasty Warriors project, now there's something I've been dreaming of myself.
Plenty of minis with western-style armour & weapons in outlandishly fantastic styles available, but oriental ones seem few and far between.
Maybe it'd just be too niche a market?

I really have no idea what I'm doing.

He's very much fantasy styled, but…

Plus, some nice troop types…

Separate weapon packs available too.  :D

which is odd considering the amount of wars china has been involved in really. among itself and neighbours.

In fairness, there is a decent lot of historically accurate (far as I can tell anyway) Chinese minis available so that as such is covered to a
degree, it's the guys with fanciful armour & weapons seen in Dynasty Warriors games that are missing.

You'd think a more fantastical approach to the Orient would be a bit more explored even in the miniature world but as I suggested earlier,
perhaps the miniature market is just too small to warrant it.
