Utterly splendid work sir!  The town really is most impressive, and the whole thing sums up why I still want to do the Sudan some day, despite all the other periods and on-the-go projects I am already involved in.  Bravo!
thank you very much sir

Much appreciated, I feel that you speak from your heart! Yes, Sudan has to give us many more campaigns...
We wish you your desire for a Sudan project to be accomplished!

Playing the same scenario with The Men Who Would Be Kings rules

Miltiades and I agreed that it was a scenario worthy to be replayed. Last month I've bought the TMWWBK rulebook and, as soon as Miltiades returns from vacations we will give it a go.
The map and the scenario remain exactly the same as per the first page.
Here is the OOB sheet, with exactly the same troop composition, translated in TMWWBK terms.
It will be a real challenge for the British player as he will have a lack of ammunition (and his troops cost 1 point less).
So, it is most probable that after the British units will have spent their last round, they'll have to put a tough man-to-man fight to escort the wagons with their vital supplies back to the town.
The scenario is open for you to try it and share it.
As soon as we re-play it we promise to send a full AAR and a comparison between the two rule sets.

Thank you! Miltiades and I keep visiting your site for years, your collections are a great source of inspiration!
Maybe you have visited Miltiades' Arab town I've put in a separate thread:

I made some unit cards for the next TMWWBK game.
I produced one for all kinds of the basic units, plus some empty wild cards to be used for any troop variation.
Here is the first one, it can be folded (very nice picture the book front)
I think I included everything needed for the game:
Red square - Leadership one can insert the Leadership value. Next, the troop type.
An open light blue window, where the unit history can be recorded.
In the following lines: Discipline, Firing, Speed, Fighting, Weapon, Range, Special, Free Action, Points cost and number of Figures.
Drawn in an Excel sheet and then converted to a .pdf file.
(each page could be exported in a separate .jpg file)

I prepared the customized unit cards for todays' game, according to the OOB.
Please note that the cost of the British is -1 as they have a lack of ammunition (D6 rounds)
This is consistent with the scenario, as the task of the convoy is to resupply the town.

Dar-Al-Hadi replayed with the Men Who Would Be Kings rules

Hi all,
Yesterday we replayed the same battle, using this time the TMWWBK rules.
The map, scenario and OOB compositions were the same.
To make the game even more challenging for the British, they had to dice a D6 for ammunition rounds left.

Here is the starting table setup
