Florian's 15mm VSF (Update: Nemo‘s Light Troops)
« on: August 04, 2017, 06:16:25 AM »
Hello fellow LAFers,

In this thread I'll present you some of my poorly painted VSF collection. 15mm is rather hard to collect in this scale and I'm often envious at all the shiny lines of 28-32mm VSF available, yet in 15mm it is not only cheaper, though you still spend a lot on postage, but is much better compatible with my time budget.

Gentlemen, here they come, I hope, you like it!

First of all some of my favorites: four-armed Martians, totally unrelated, of course, to a certain ERB novel. The minis are lovely, but especially he infantry requires a lot of preparation like drilling open the hands. I still have a whole army on the lead-pile.

Steam-powered walker and tank. These are normally used by my Prussian baddies, but do also fit into nearly all European factions.

Steampunk robot and a model that was originally produced for a 10mm (!) Fantasy Football (!!) Lizardmen team (!!!).

I think he/she/it makes a good stand as a Pellucidar baddy. What do you think?

Thank you! It's the HLpR Bot from Bombshell. They gave a lot of stuff for the 15mm games in their shop, "camouflaged" as familiars and pets :)
I got mine from a Berlin based tabletop store.

Here's the link from the Bombshell homepage

Thank you! I'll post some more once I find the time for taking pictures. Do you also collect 15mm VSF? Then it must be God's way of telling us that he hates this combination by putting you to the place the most far away from my home  lol lol

Some time ago, I was able to get my hands on a set of the magnificent Obelisk great apes. Now oop, sadly. I really like the apes, and they are probably perfect for playing Congo & Co. in 28mm, but where they really shin is 15mm.

They are absolutely beautifully sculpted and make fantastic giant apes ready to battle dinosaurs and steal damsels from their tents!

Third picture shows the ape in comparison to some pieces of my collection.

Some rubber dinosaurs I picked up at a British shop selling books, pens and well...stuff on my holiday last year on Guernsey.

Added some army painter shade, painted details, added some colors (on the back of the T-Rex) and voila: 15mm VSF dinosaurs!

Here is a picture showing you how well my giant ape works with the dinosaurs. He's truly the king pf the jungle!

15mm American dinosaur hunter and 15mm Mahar added for scale.

One of my favorites: my vision of John Carter in 15mm.

I used a Copplestone barbarian and gave him an 28mm plastic sword from the Mantic elves sprue - John's superior physique allows him to use Tharg weapons in the atmosphere of Mars!

The stone man is a 28mm Rackham familiar, which I use as a Martian native, a species not described by ERB. He's the last of his kind and acts as a monster, hero or NPC.

Nice work! I particularly like the dinosaurs.

Yes, I also have a VSF collection with the addition of a few Pulp characters in 15mm. Except for the occasional miniature or vehicle and a unit or three for In Her Majesty's Name, I haven't worked on it a great deal for quite some years.

I originally started my adventure after converting one miniature after returning home from the cinema in 1999 after watching 'The Mummy'. The miniature was an adventuring archaeologist by the name of Montana Browne.

Unfortunately, photos of my collection are currently stored in my Photobucket album. If you can be bothered putting up with the pop-ups, my stuff can be viewed here - http://s92.photobucket.com/user/LeadBear/library/15mm%20VSF?sort=2&page=1

Most of my collection consist of ACW-VSF inspired units to use with my ACW forces with G.A.S.L.I.G.H.T.
