Interesting and ambitious build. I'll be following your progress with interest.

As a side note, I may be underestimating the harshness of the conditions in your cave, but I doubt it would lead to corrosion of an aluminium can. Unless the avoidance of any metal is a constraint you want to impose upon yourself. I feel you can safely use them as storage tanks and drink some more Guinness. Cheers!
The voice of temptation  :D
Actually I should do a test - leave (opened and EMPTIED) tins of Guinness all around the cellar. I'd have to watch out for microclimates of course, so I'd need, say, 8 tins per room for the corners, there's three rooms, then a few particular nooks and crannies, and the doors, and the ventilators....36 should do....  ;D

lol

I have some of those ;)

Don't let them loose in the bilges ;)

There's a thought; I could have a chicken coop and duck pond  :D

I recognise those feathered friends - long forgotten relic of my own distant salad days! Thanks for a little frisson of nostalgia.
I know, right? Worst thing is they could be useful cleaned of flash and repainted, and I can't bring myself to do it...

A lot of planning is needed for this, I realised. My main problems are all related to the flooring, as I am trying not to over-complicate whilst retaining some of the girder-like structure appearance of the floor; I might have found how to work with a variety of bits and lots of plasticard. The corners present a different problem, as they are tight to work in, although a model can be placed and moved inside.

I chose the colour for the hull at last; not giving that away yet  :D of course that means I won't get any help in choosing a colour for the floor plating, which will be a rusty orange or pale green.

I might lose the corridors entirely as they diminish the openness of the structure, especially once I realised small vehicles fit in there...

Here's a shot to show the scale of the thingy's section:

Left to right foreground: an Imperial Assault Stormtrooper, one of the actual crew of the Mother Hydra (Blind Beggar), an android (also Blind Beggar) and a Mk X SM; and in the background one of those nice ad mech vehicles, which can scurry up and down these corridors easily.

Something new added at last. It's a bit of a digression, but I just had to start on these (they're still incomplete and obviously unpainted):

The grey scooter bits are discarded Playmobil parts. I'm using these as some sort of compact conveyor vehicle on the Mother Hydra. They only just fit!

I'm thinking industrial yellow for these...

Incidentally - the fluff in the last pic is not dust or cobwebs - I tried to clean the pallet with a bit of kitchen roll and ended up with bits of the stuff all over :(

Oooh!
I like that, mate.
Very clever use of parts.
 8) 8)

I hope the kid that you stole the Playmobil from did not cry too much.
 ;)

Thanks guys, and no worries, no kids involved. I had found some of these scattered by a recycling bin - bit of a mystery, that.

Thanks guys.

The Mother Hydra exists in multiple universes - here are two versions of caretaker droids from who are each other's counterpart from parallel worlds, although they have different characters. Yellow Marlin has been left to take care of the ship all by himself for several million years; Gold Gee Creepio is an inveterate babbler, and is useful for translation. He is part of the Prime Universe Mother Hydra Crew (prime to themselves at least!).

AND I have some grey to retouch, thank you macro function!  :D

Found this thread thanks to Mason :)

Great start for a very interesting build!

Are the bases of the androids a give-away towards your colour choices for the floor of Mother Hydra? ;)
