Congo: King of the Apes
« on: August 22, 2017, 10:00:38 AM »
The White Men have hacked through the jungle for weeks to capture the legendary great ape. The local tribes, to whom the ape is sacred, have other ideas. Another cracking game of Congo, featuring a witch doctor and pygmies. The pygmies were particularly effective with their poisoned arrows, and their small size allowing them to hide in the bushes. An early rush by the soldiers ended in disaster as some were shot down by pygmies and the rest charged by the enraged ape, but then the white men closed in and whittled down the ape's strength, finally capturing him in the last move.

A couple of shots of the action, first the peaceful forest with the ape under his great tree, then the ape fighting the interlopers.

That's one big monkey.
Lots of nice terrain.
Are you playing the Conga rules?
If so, how do you like them?

Yes, we've played Congo quite a few times now. We like the rules very much.
Lots of interesting decision making. A novel activation method. Very tightly written scenarios. The games only take a couple of hours.
Very atmospheric; it's like being in one of those 19th century explorer's accounts.
I need to make up some 'savannah grass' pieces using teddy bear fur and the setup will be complete.
