I’ve been painting minis based on, or what look suitable to me, for games based on the Doug Mclure films from the 70’s.

Well cool. You are going to need some of those giant fire breathing frogs that climb walls and a few of those godzilla type looking rhinos things as well. Ironclad do a nice drilling machine as well.

they really nailed the figures- particularly cushing.

lovely paint jobs (contrast?).

and the mirrored helms - looks like the old technique of actually scraping the figure's metal, which I seem to dimly remember - it's not is it?

You're correct, Contrast paints and I did burnish the helmets then gloss varnished them.

Love this! Peter Cushing is absolutely spot on, and everyone should have a Caroline Munro in their collection!

oh  gosh - that does bring back memories - and it looks brilliant - quite literally. Can't do that with plastics!

Caquie Caribe also scratch-built a mole using lego bits and posted it a while ago.  You should be able to find it going through the old posts.  As I remember he included the tutorial as well.

You might take a look at the GI Joe Mole Pod. Drill is awful large compared to rest of model.

In my large pile of projects started but unlikely to complete, four Moles to be made into a subterranean train: two with drills pointing fore-and-aft, two, sans drills, butted together.

I got as far as disassembling three and shaving down some of the 'fins'...

Shortly after the movie, eBay was flush with 'em, cheap.

Now you need to make some caverns for the Mahars.
