These are icky and creepy and awesome.  I have a box somewhere, would love to imitate that paintjob on them...   :)

Thanks  :) Hopefully the tutorials will help you achieve something similar. If you have more time, no doubt you can paint the stealers and gaunts to a better level for those I am only using three steps of layers. Better blending would achieve better results on them I feel.

Just a little group shot of the progress - 20 stealers with Heresy Miniatures Lurker heads, 5 Gargoyles with the same heads as the stealers, a part painted Carnifex (which I need to finish) and a Tyrant Guard (metal body with newer plastic limbs).

Long time without an update but I have had a few days off on annual leave and was really inspired by some other folks conversions for 40k gaming in our hobby and decided to try and build more of my unbuilt units up. Having a space Tyranid Warrior and finding some other inspiration about the net I decided that I wanted to make it into a Tyranid prime.

Digging about my bits box I quickly hatched a plan and got moving on it.

The only problem I have now is that I prefer the stealer face/head to the warrior one, so I may yet go back and redo the others, especially those on the older Ravenar bodies that could do with lifting upwards anyway.

Great addition 8)

And a cool mash-up of different edition parts and your own sculpting!

I really should take the time to finally post my atttempt ::)

Inspired by your work, I did up 40+ Hormagaunts with Heresy heads, 10 gargoyles with Hormaclaws and Heresy heads, plus a 4 claw Carnifex with resculpted head to match the Heresy ones. Plus, I have a second hand unpainted Trygon lying around for use as an end level boss type monster. I should finish that guy, and I am also planning on doubling up on the above force, so I'll have 80 runners, 20 flyers and three large monsters...

My scheme came out a lighter brown than yours, but the basic idea was the same.

Are you planning on adding more to your force?

I'm all out of Heresy heads now btw. I contacted Andy about casting more Lurker heads in June last year, but never heard back from him. So I suppose I should try again...
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

I do have plans to expand the force. Mainly big stuff.

I have two more Carnifex's though I want to magnetise them for various options. Two hive tyrants, one I am going to perma-build, the other magnetise. My take on a Tervigon. My take on a toxicrine. A trygon and more gargoyles. I have another unit of hormagaunts to paint as well. I may also have some old stealers kicking around to add to the broods I have too. So a fair bit. I also have more done than the above so will endeavour to photo them and share them at some point.

I'll be there and probably with some of these as well.

I think our info will be a bit out of date but one table will be holding Star Breach games and the other will be a repeat of last years Carnage City Chronicles after a last minute pull out for family reasons.

Games weekend? About flaming time  ;)

Have I actually given you any dates, or were you just planning on turning up on my doorstep at some point?
