Games weekend? About flaming time  ;)

Have I actually given you any dates, or were you just planning on turning up on my doorstep at some point?

 :D

Damn...might bump into you both at Salute this year then.

Will have the no-so-mini-Akky in tow this year ...

Wife wants to have a trip up for a few days in the summer to see the Viking Centre and the Shambles. Might just be for a few days.

And it will be good to meet mini-big-but-not-as-big-as-real-Akky-Akky at Salute too. All you need now is to get him to build boards as nice as yours...  ;D lol

The feedback has driven the old impetus and creative juices are flowing... so started using blutac and some cutting then some gluing, this is the basic shape as it is at the moment for the next beast to be built, my take on the Exocrine. The big beast with a huge gun.

The legs at the front will probably move slightly back to allow for a set of small tallons.

Been a while but with the advent of 40k 9th I needed to get a move on and round off this force. So, with a bit of courage plucked up went at a hive tyrant. Pretty standard set up, lash whip and monstrous bone sword and a heavy venom cannon. It's not 100% done but just has a couple of details in the tail and tongue to sort out.

I've been taking stock of things a bit over the last year and trying to push through more of my incomplete projects. These Nids are not going to be finished quickly but I have done some more in an effort to at least have a viable army to put on the table for 40k when the club and store with gaming space open up again.

So with that said, here is a highlight of models that I have completed since the last update on this project:

The eagle eyed amongst you will note that the gargoyles I did more recently are not quite as good as those I did a couple of years ago. I somewhat rushes them and might persuade myself to go back to them at a later date. Suffice to say the result is that there isn't a particularly quick way of doing this method which means for it to work I can't skip stages in the shading up and hope the washes do the rest. Lesson learned and like I say, if time permits I may well go back to the wings and redo them.

Where does that leave me?
Painted:
40 Genestealers
30 Hormagaunts
10 Gargoyles
3 Ravaners
1 Hive Tyrant
1 carnifex
1 Tervigon
1 Broodlord
1 Tyranid Prime
1 Lictor

That leaves the following to have paint slapped upon them:
That leaves currently unpainted:
- 30 Termagants.
- 3 Tyranid Warriors.
- 3 Ravenars.
- 1 broodlord.
- Mawloc/Trygon.
- kitbashed exocrine.
- Deathleaper.
- Red Terror.
- Spore Mines.
- 2 carnifex.
- another hive tyrant (will do a different build, swarmlord maybe?).

And whatever else I feel like mustering out of the bits box... I know I have another 10 genestealers but not actually sure if I need another ten at this point. Possibly bits to make some kitbashed zoanthropes. Another Tyranid Prime with alternative weapon load out as well.

The painting and conversion on these is brilliant... these are the best Tyranids that I've seen... the colour scheme is spot on.

Great work there! I always loved that paintscheme!

What started out as a generic space bug army has come full circle and has become a full fledged 'Nid army, eh?

Your resurrection here reminded me that I have had my own bug army for over a year now, blatantly ripping off both your paintscheme and conversion work...

That meaning I also used the Heresy Lurker heads on Hormagaunts for the bulk of my horde. But then I resculpted the head of my lone big bug (Carnifex) to match those Heresy ones, so that head sort of turned into the swarm's theme.

I also used them on a flock of Gargoyles (with Hormagaunt scythes for arms), but then I ran out of heads. And even after half a dozen petered out communication attempts with Andy at Heresy, I have been unable to get me a new batch, so that's where they are and probably will remain now...  :(

A shame really, as I really enjoyed doing them. There's just something cathartic about production line painting I guess.
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...
