Chain of Command Mexican Revolution Army lists and first game
« on: January 17, 2022, 10:08:09 AM »
Hi Everyone

I have put together a Chain of Command set of characteristics, weapons and army lists for the Mexican Revolution. These rules are ideal for fun and fast paced games - that include grand strategic decisions as well as the thrill of the swirl of action points on the table.

You can find the files here: https://www.novorasa.com/single-post/chain-of-command-mexican-revolution-army-lists

You can also see the first game using them here: https://www.novorasa.com/single-post/the-bank-at-cordoba

Great stuff mate! I love seeing Chain of Command being used for more exotic locations.

RebelZippy: this looks like an excellent use for CoC and the presentation of your lists/rules are great.  I find CoC can work for a lot of settings and I now use the range of variants (Vietnam, SCW) to pick ideas/bits from to portray what I want to play - I’m intending to play VBCW with it as that’s quite straightforward and I will probably borrow your Air Support option as it would fit.

This is even more tempting with Peter Pig’s new release of 15mm Mexican Revolution which are charming little models and a quickly growing range.

Thank you for posting, I don’t know much about the period but I’m going to scour your blog to educate myself better.

Interesting! Out of curiosity where did you find the organisational structure for the Mexican Army? I’ve been looking for this myself.
Em dezembro de '81
Botou os ingleses na roda
3 a 0 no Liverpool
Ficou marcado na história
E no Rio não tem outro igual
Só o Flamengo é campeão mundial
E agora seu povo
Pede o mundo de novo

Interesting piece on Villa’s División del Norte but I couldn’t find anything in it that dealt with small unit structure. Perhaps I missed something, which bit of it should I look at again?

As general histories I’m sure they are all worthy. I was more interested in the specific source or sources for the organisational detail you provided. I’ve found that level of detail elusive to date , so if you have found a source I ‘d appreciate the tip.

Hi Carlos

sure - its mostly through a long period of reading various sources and having an idea of what an average organisation might look like (which as you know in this conflict there was little consistency) - together with trying to transpose that 'impression' over to a manageable list that worked well with the Chain of Command Rules and dynamics. Historically accurate down to the last detail they might not be - but they give a good impression of general armies of this time and the ability to play that with the right period feel for this rule set.
