Twilight 2000 stills, what do they look like?
« on: September 10, 2017, 08:38:00 AM »
Both of the Twilight 2000 versions had illustrations of vehicles and equipment, but what I cannot remember seeing was illustrations of the three sizes of still that was so important to fuel any vehicle a player group wanted to field. For those too lung to remember the Twilight 2000 RPG, you had to make your own fuel (while also feeding your group).

Not having either of the rulebooks to hand, all I can remember was there were three sizes with associated outputs. There was a small one that was suitable as stowage on a vehicle, one that fitted on a trailer and a cottage industry one.

Does anyone have any suitable illustrations of stills? I am going to be building some 28mm vehicles and want to equip them with a suitable fuel sources.

Thanks in advance.

Something like this:-

Apparently to make methanol you need to stick a bunch of wood chippings in a pot, heat it and condense off the result.

So heat source, possibly a fire pit, some kind of heating vessel, a condensing tube and something to catch the methanol.

Thanks.

That looks suitable as the stowage version.

I think I might say that was the trailer version.

Small:-

More industrial:-

A still converted from a water heater (good if you have electricity)

Thanks.

I once lived in a house that had a tank upstairs that was heated via the fire in the living room, so that might work without electricity.

There is this guys interpretation:-

The grey barrel is what I believe is called a 'thump barrel' intended to catch any solids carried out of the kettle with the alcohol steam.
