Sigur's doing steamy pulpy punky things with Malifaux
« on: September 11, 2017, 03:15:47 PM »
Heyhey, over the past weeks I've been working on a new Malifaux crew. Lots of Misaki crewmen and the Crossroad Seven.

Starting with the latest figure I finished - Shadow Emissary:

Ha, I survived my light-to-medium cold and back at the painting table. Here's the Shadow Emissary:

Hope you like him! Stay tuned for more very soon!

I love that miniature and you've made it look amazing!
One of the best malifaux figures in my opinion.
never trust a horse, they make a commitment to shoes that no animal should make.

Lovely work. Great palette and the attention to detail on the scales is magnificent.

Bravo!

Lovely.  That a 50mm base, or have they started using even larger ones?

@nic-e: Thanks very much. :) I have to admit - it's a cracking sculpt. And I was surprised how well it goes on the base along with the japanese gate. :D

@Duke Donald: Cheers! To be honest it's one of those paintjobs on which I made stuff up as I went along. This chap's been sitting on my desk for a good two weeks as I slowly progressed painting him. The colours were more or less a given, but what to put where and how was the big questions.

@Nord: Thanks very much!

@Hobby Services: Yeah, that's a 50mm base.

I guess it's time for pictures of the whole warband:

I'm not sure I really like the miniatures apart from the dragon.

That said, your painting is excellent as always. I also like the colour palette you chose, which makes them stand out individually but still ties them together.

@Duke Donald: :D That's OK. Malifaux does have a certain style to it. And no bloody scale it seems. It's all over the place! ;) All the more: Thanks for the comment and the complinents on the painting! Dark blue/magenta red/white/black is one of my go-to colour schemes eversince my Infinity days. It's just a sexy combo I think.

Now for the Crossroads Seven!

Reason why the warband and these chaps and chapettes above were pretty much finished at the same time was that the Dragon took me so long to finish and I paused in between and painted the Crossroads Seven.

Backgroundwise they are a kind of rock band 'spreading chaos', and each member is named after one of the deadly sins.

Nice work.  I've done that blasted jorogumo box about five times over now for various customers, they were really popular when they first came out.

Best job I've seen on the Crossroads Seven, you really brought out the personality on that bunch of loons.

You ain't kidding with that comment about scale, though.  There's some figures (looking at you, wendigo and victim) where it looks like they simply resized the image before printing without bothering to consider what it would do to the end result.  Overall I like their stylized and dynamic sculpting, but every now and then they just fall flat.

@Hobby Services: Thanks very much indeed. Yeah, they're about scale a bit as with background consistency/influences - anything goes, and the rule of cool goes above everything else.

@Gabbi: Thanks very much. :)

@dinohunterpoa: Cheers, took quite a bit of work. :D

@Ultravanillasmurf: Thanks!

Look, I got some Malifaux on the table again!

It's pretty much the plastic version of the first Malifaux figures I painted back in 2013. Not sure which I prefer. Of course these here still are WIP; the blue pops weirdly in those cellphone pictures. In real life it's more subdued and jeans-like.
