hutes for congo
« on: September 15, 2017, 03:28:38 PM »
I recently bought the "congo" rule and I'm going to need hutes ... I'm not convinced by the ones presented at the end of the book. this makes me think more of a holiday club.
I did a search on the net and found what suited me, all without spending money ... and without running the shops; all made of cardboard and papery.
it is not a matter of having a historical but rather romantic vision of dark Africa

at this point, I cut a template into a cereal box

the sides are glued and the whole is not very stable for the moment

here the roof is glued and the paper strips to cover it are cut

here all the coating has been glued and lightly covered with liquid glue (do not bother to soak the building in a bucket of glue
it remains only the painting and it is finished
and this small building of fragile appearance is astonishingly solid to less fortur to walk on

Very impressive! I like it a lot. The little details like the mask, pots and cloth curtain really finish it off nicely.

Really nice. I made mine like the ones in the book, but these have more flavour.

and the cut paper does a really good job of replicating the original

That looks fantastic!  I'm always amazing what people can make from cereal boxes.

there is no harm in having used those of the book. it's just that the hounds of the book did not correspond to what I imagined

and the cut paper does a really good job of replicating the original

I find that the cut paper makes it good too. a little long to do perhaps but not more than to cut cardboard tiles

They look great, a very clever way of doing them with the paper. ;D
