I'm not in the market for a Harley (an Ursus with sidecar would be nice) but I'll add a third vote for 1/50 scale. The Perry bikes were allegedly true 1/56 and looked like children's toys. The Tamiya and indeed Hasegawa 1/48 bikes look about right. It's all to do with the scale/ size distortion of the figures themselves. None of the current ranges of 28mm figures scale out at 1/56  and to be honest I doubt many people would buy them if they did. With vehicles it appears less important but a bike really seems to show up the inconsistency of scale.

i disagree ...
John Hart "Gnome & Rhone AX2" produced for Crusader is strictly 1/56 and it works with the riders .

( and the Perry bikes suffered , IMO,  of dwarf wheels  ;) )

1/48 produce oversized vehicles, 1/56 undersized ones mostly because of the "heroic" 28mm ... may be something around 1/52 or 1/53 ?
Dans les situations critiques, quand on parle avec un calibre bien en pogne, personne ne conteste plus. Y'a des statistiques là-dessus.
