1/56 Scale WWI Tank Accessory Parts
« on: October 11, 2017, 02:06:23 AM »
Hello everyone -

Do any of you know of a supplier of 1/56 scale tank accessory parts?

I'm looking for such parts as the track grousers, rails for unditching beams, chains, ammo cans, petrol cans, chains and such.

A couple years ago I ran across a website that did sell such items but cant find the link now.

Thanks in advance.

The only supplier of accessories that I have come across is Grand Manner but these don't include all of the things in your list:

Rubicon do some of this in plastic sets, and I think JFTM certainly used to offer stowage if you contact them directly.
Warlord also do some bits and pieces.

Unditching beams? Balsa

Rails? Model railway and modelling shops usually supply all manner of plastic 'I' and 'H' beams.

Chains? Jewellery suppliers, craft stores.

Petrol tins, AKA flimsies? Warlord and Rubicon both have them in their respective Allied stowage packs. Eureka produce them for their Mad Maximillian range, you could always email Nic.

Yup, was planning on using balsa for the beams, it's the rails I'm after.

I have looked at "I" & "H" beams, as well as the angle iron, you can find in hobby shops; same goes with the chains. Unfortunately - I suck at choosing "in scale" bits-n-pieces, I mean I REALLY  suck at it!!! Don't seem to have that issue when it comes to building and terrain, but when it comes to machines I do. Pre-made to scale helps me out in this area. I might give it a second try though.

Fear not. I bought some I beams to build up the chassis of some 1/50 diecasr trucks I'm converting. It took me three attempts to find the right size. :) Fortunately they are items tgat come in useful for all manner of things.
