(Kickstarter) Time of Legends Joan of Arc by Mythic Games
« on: October 12, 2017, 08:42:26 AM »
I couldn't see a thread on this on either this board of the fantasy board.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1162110258/time-of-legends-joan-of-arc

A Kickstarter campaign for a new board game has just launched. It's set during the HYW although the game also includes mythic elements (which can be used or not) I thought it may be of some interest as it is on 15mm scale and has a nice range of minis and terrain

Those are very nice sculpts for 15mm! Not really sold on the whole heaven and hell army things though.

Well, I'm in with a basic set.

If they really do deliver this quality in 15mm I'm more than impressed.

This.

If the quality is really as good as shown in their videos, I'd like to get everything they offer. But I've seen soft plastic 15/18mm from five years ago (Battlelore or the like - not the guys who are making Joan of Arc), and the quality was uninspiring compared to the metal minis you can buy relatively cheaply.

It looks a nice tabletop game, though. Something that might get some of my friends interested in figures too. And definitely a good first step for the kids in the family who are beginning to find miniatures fun, but lack the attention span to play real miniature battle games.

I'm probably into this, just can't decide how big I should go.

I'm very much taken by the siege set! Finally cool and affordable fortifications.

About the material: Well, I will certainly risk the basic set and we'll see about the quality. If the material is the same as in Conan, then they should be okay.

OMG the Siege set!

Are you guys primarily into the game, or mostly after the minis & buildings to use in other games?

I'm asking because I'm hesitating if I would just cut the minis and put them on wargames basing. But that could seriously hamper the hex-based skirmish game.

The buildings however will work great for any 15mm game!

Well, I do plan the same. I'm just in for the minis. Especially the characters look awesome.
As far as I can see, the hex gaming works with round bases, so there will (hopefully!) no prescribed baes, but rules how many bases can enter a hex.

The miniatures are separate from the base.

"When you want to play you can put any of the minis in the bases. Being separate allows you to mix the variant sculpts if you want, and to get at each miniatures separately should you wish to paint them."

I ONLY want the miniatures for this. It's a game that's probably fun but I will never play, But damn do i want the figures!
never trust a horse, they make a commitment to shoes that no animal should make.

The siege and terrain set are impressive.

They do have a $1 level which allows you to get just the options but the game looks interesting as well.

I thought these were good prices for the miniatures alone?

Not into 15mm, but can definitely see why they chose it!

They are. For the amount you get you'relooking at something like 30p a figure? less even.

I just feel guilty knowing the game itself will languish in obscurity alongside all the other board games in my cupboard.

It's gonna cost you a lot when you take the dive.  ;D

Theoretically, they are first timers in 15mm. I'm fairly sure the shown test models are printed at high precision, and do not come from molds. So the production figures might not quite reach the standard shown in the KS photos & computer renderings. That's about the only negative issue that comes to my mind, and even that is just a careful consideration unproven. Considering the cost/value, I'd say the risk is easily worth taking.
