Welcome to the Perry insanity club. You have a great eye for detail and an obvious talent for modelling. Looking forward to seeing your creations painted  :)

Thank you all for your kind words!
Im surprised that some have problems with the image hosting I use. I dont get any spam or ads at all. And it is used alot in a modelling forum Im member. The main reason I use it is because unlike photobucket etc you dont end up with deleted links one day. Anyway I ll look into it, maybe use pinterest. For the time being please bear with me.

Now to our subject.

Αnother custom captain. I shaved the hair and cap of the original and added greay stuff hair and mustache.

[/img]
And here is our italian dandy, all feathered up and primed, riding his steed. I like the idea of him having two swords. One usually by his side and a very big one, carried on his war horse (Ladyhawk anyone? wink wink). I made the saddle scabbard from plasticard and greystuff. I got it temporarely attached with a bit of patafix.

Next we have some knights with added plumes by yours truly. Now the plumes and feathers are tricky little bastards. It took me quite a while to find a way, of how I could make them work. The problem was that while i could sculpt one side, it was very difficult to sculpt the other one. I really dont know how the classic GW guys did it, if anyone has a hint its very welcome. After some trial and error I found this method. I cut a strip of foil from a new nescafe can. Then I roughly cut the sillouette of the feather and glue on the bottom end a piece of wire. The wire will help later for the attachement on the helm. Then I put a blob of grey stuff on, shape it and start sculpting the ridge and the details. When set, I do the same on the other side. Then because of the foil armature, its easy to bend the feather to the degree I want and be sure that it whil keep its shape.

Another rider with a flowing headband. Uli Jon Roth style  lol

An early wip of some casualties. I think its a pitty to chop up good plastic, so I made some casts with Blue stuff and miliput+greystuff of afew bodies. Then I cut them down and made my own poses.

Splendid feathers - those plumes look really great!
Not sure on the moustache - a bit more 1960s rather than 1460s!!
Simon.

So I have primed 2 boxes of infantry, 1 box of mercs, 1 box of foot knights, 1 box of light cavalry and 2 boxes of knights. I still have a light cavalry box to assemble, i think I will try to do some more mods there. I already thought the idea of a guy with a bit of a ... rockstar air, carrying a lute on his back, so he can chill out playing when he is not ... looting  ;D

I also have to decide what banners they are going to carry. Im going for small units of various origins, like Captain Blood did, but Im still researching colors and heraldry. Then Im going to design the banners. Its going to be a long way.

Paint some more!  :)

Seriously liking your tedious conversion work. This is how I tend to work too: lots of converting work even on RnF figures, and painting later. But it doesn't work well for me, because I tend to paint less than I convert. Hope it works for you!  :)

No worries. I nick many of mine too ;)

But it doesn't work well for me, because I tend to paint less than I convert.

Herein lies the problem. It's a lot faster and more fun creating them than it is painting them!  ::)

Yes painting is the really hard part, especially when there are so many minis. The weather also doesnt help at all, its almost November and its 25 C outside. Its more like swimming than painting  lol.

Now I'm going off you!!!  Its about 9C here with a wind chill of - I don't know what as storm Brian the blessed lambasts Norfolkshire.
Having said that your conversions are superb, can't wait to see what they look like with some paint on (if you can drag yourself away from the pool ;))

just a tiny update, havent done much on WOTR stuff Im afraid. Afew Perry  metal bannermen. The poles were fashioned out of beaten and filed copper wire. We had all the electricity cables in the house changed with new ones. Usually the electricians take the old ones and recycle them (actually they sell them for scrap), BUT the modeller in me wouldnt let all those meters of fine copper wire go away that easy  lol.
