ok a small wip on a novice sculpting adventure.
I always liked those romanesque armours, so I decided to have a go. The mini started as a milliput+greenstuff pressmold of a perry infantry man. I wanted a dolly in order to get the size right. I shaved it down considerably so I can add my clothes and armour. The groundwork volumes were mafe with magic sculpt (light gray) and on top of that I sculpted the details with beesputty. I prefered beesputty cause its polymer clay that dont set until you bake it. I didnt need the time but it just felt better not having the clock ticking while Im trying to figure how to make stuff.

So here is the inspiration

and here is my attempt (minus the hands, that Im sculpting now)

Brilliant work you have really captured the look and feel of it. Especially love those full length boots, would you ever consider producing dollies like that commercially? So many uses for dismounted crossbowmen and the like

+1

I'd buy them! Just bodies+legs that can be combined with Perry plastic heads and arms would be awesome, various sorts of armour with riding boots as said would be great for dismounted crossbowmen and other cavalry. Plus certain combinations of armour and poses....

Very well done indeed - love the smooth surface and sharp lines you've achieved on the steel and the creases in the leather - really excellent.
Simon.

Thanks for the kind words guys

@SirGromit1879
To tell you the truth it never crossed my mind reproducing it, cause I wasnt sure I could pull off the sculpting part in the firts place  ;D. I really dont have access to a metal casting company. I dont think there even exist one in Athens. But I have access to a resin casting company (my brother used to work there) that actually deals with many very well known european scale model companies. I could ask for a price, although I dont know how many people would be interested. There is always the diy way, but that means rediscovering America and the money saved on fees will be spent (and even more) in failed attempts.

@Simon
Actually the initial inspiration came from your blog, with your custom Burgundians. Beesputty is a very nice material to work with, and it was a major help in my noob sculpting attempt. If you work it with your hands till warm it can stick on surfaces but when it cools down it can take detail very nicely.

Wow the rest of the miniature does not disappoint! Brilliant =). The sculpting is so crisp.

It does sound like could be expensive to have a single figure cast unfortunately, maybe a way round it would be do a full range and Kickstarter , I am sure we could all come up with a BIG list of wants  :D
