Anyone playing in Manchester
« on: October 20, 2017, 03:34:51 PM »
Hello all,

Haven't had much luck finding opponents for the games and periods I like in Manchester, UK. Anyone around here or nearby?
I have fairly broad interests in terms of period but skirmish / large skirmish are generally the size I aim for

Many thanks, wishing everyone a good weekend,
sR

Hi,
Several clubs around Manchester, it depends what you play,
A Wargaming Club, well in fact two using the same premises located in Hyde, Tameside.
The East Manchester Club and the Mailed Fist, they still both have Websites, Bolt Action is played by the East Manchester
and the Mailed Fist is a Club that play a number of Historicial Wargames.
Element Games in Stockport, are in the main Sci Fi and Fantasy but several of us play Bolt Action.
All the above have some SAGA Players.
Hope this helps.

Excellent question given the result against Huddersfield. ;D

Fanboy 3 in Manchester holds games a lot, all type of tabletop gaming too. It's about 5 mins away from Piccadilly. Warning, the last time I went, it kinda smelled bad.

Not that I go, but I think Fanboy's new location is pretty swish - looks like they've got a 'uge basement gaming area.

edit: should say, I play pulpy 15mm sci-fi skirmish if that's your thing. Though I wouldn't mind finding a MCR club to play either.

Ooo i didn't know they'd moved. Sounds good. I've had good experience trying out new things there. Monsterpocolypse, Malifaux and Warzone Resurrection where all games I hadn't seen played anywhere else at the time, so was great to try something out of the norm there.

Thanks chaps. I had popped into the old store and they seemed friendly but mostly playing CCGs, I should try dash over to the new store on a lunch break as I work in central Manchester.

I remember looking at their timetable and the evenings I could do didn't have the games I liked IIRC. I'm a bit hesitant to start something like Infinity and Warmahordes - I've played both in the past and while I think they are both good games I feel they are aimed at the tournament crowd and really need some commitment to play regularly.

Jagannath, I'll send you a PM  :D
