Codsticker, amazing work!  Very inspiring.  I want to come to your house to play!

I looked through your blog, great stuff.  Any intention to talk a bit more on your painting techniques on your buildings? I generally get the 4Ground buildings because they are already painted.  Are you spray painting the buildings, or using a brush?

Matt

Hi Matt, thank you for the compliments. Although I have an airbrush I have been really enjoying using my brushes. The buildings are basecoated with a aerosol spray paints: white on the interior and either grey, tan or red-brown on the exterior. The painted interiors are coarsely wet blended two colours. For the exterior I pick out specific blocks in two tones; I follow that with random dabs with both a slightly darker mix (concentrated along the bottom where dirty water would splash up on the building) and a slightly lighter mix (I try to gently push the paint into the MDF). I then apply streaks using very thin black, brown and near-white paint. The streaks I try to place where I imagine some rain water might collect and run down the walls. The white streaks might be chalk-like residue you used to get from paint or mortar- it might also be bird shit. :D

More progress. After several hours put in over my Christmas break my goal has been reached: the table to a stage we could give it a test run yesterday.
the interiors of all the buildings are done:

Table surface painted (mostly- the other side of the canal is just primed):

More pictures and words on my blog.

My friend David, his son and a couple of his friends gave the table a little run through; A Race Against Time was the scenario. Over-sized Mandalorians have the police chief surrounded in his car:

Some gangsters attempt to sweep around the buildings and catch the Mandalorians in a pincer movement:

The Red Devils at first try to use their "sniper" to pick off the Mandalorians however their armour and cover make them nearly impossible to take out.
So they attempt to grab a plot point and a coffee at the local corner store:

The Cowboys have easy access to 2 plot points on their side of the canal but can only make good on one of them:

The game ends with the alien mercenaries holding out against all comers, and dragging the police chief from his vehicle:

Looking great!  ;)

I am sure it has already been answered, but who makes those buildings?

The canal looks amazing!

Thank you for the compliments guys.  :)

All the MDF buildings are Sarissa Precision; the whole lot below (minus the plastic fences) are part of their cityblock deal:

It's funny what ticks the boxes but the last two photos of the bridge and canal and water look excellent and certainly ticks mine.

Amazingly fast creation - wow.

The vehicles look good, do they scale ok with the figure?

They area smidge too big, but not much. They would scale very well with GW style figures.

I thought they looked a bit on the big side which is a shame because they are very nice.

I have been concentrating on the table surface this past week:

Scupltamold and brown paint on the rural portion and Plas Craft Games textured sheet for the canal walls.
A few more pictures on my blog.

Missed this thread up until now - awesome pulp stuff, sir!

I see you're on Vancouver Island. I'm down in Victoria with a bunch of pulp stuff. Where are you based?

I also see on your blog that you're prepping for Trumpeter Salute - if we can't connect before then, I'll see you in Burnaby!

The canal walls have come out very nice and authentic looking, it will be good to see this completed.

I think you said you used modge Podge for the water, does this give the ripple effect, from what I've read I would have expected a smooth finish? The ripple looks better imo.
