I got the paper from a friend who bought it for a project, so I had to ask him...I used a lot more of it than he did...

It came from a UK store called the The Range.

They have a few Pietra Texture variants (click here) around the GB£23 price.

I have found some time to splash a bit of ink onto the first of the cobble boards.



To give a bit of variation, I have used two different inks and tried to vary the level of cover across the area.



Looks a bit blotchy...



Darker than I wanted, but some drybrushing should bring out the look I am after.

I have been working on the first stairway for the port to take models from the 8cm board section height down to sea level.



I have been making loads of flat packed furniture recently and they have had plenty of polystyrene packing and nice long narrow bits of hardboard that will be perfect for roads.

For these stairs, I just wanted to make sure there was enough space on each step for a model or two.



Instead of folding paper over the side edges, I trimmer the paper to fit after it was glued



Only the steps had the paper folded over the edge.

Finished the first prototype stairs for the port boards.

Once the papering was done, I trimmed the edges with balsa, this does a good job of hiding the curve over the edge.



A covering of light grey paint, ink and then dry brushing brought out the relief of the paper really well.
 


The balsa was just done with wood brown, because, er, it is meant to be wood.
