The Castillo has all of her gunports, all I need now is to arm the fortress https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2017/11/now-all-i-need-is-sixty-six-cannon.html

"So"? WTF?

Awesome!

Was every gunport occupied?  Surely some cannon were in the workshops for repair?  You might only need 56 - see, it’s easier already  :)

That is a *really* nice model of the old Castillo. I can almost smell the moat. Go ahead and finish it, worry about the guns later.

Hey, there you go, 22 fine looking sets of 3 cannons with bits and pieces.  Now all you need is a cleaning party, an assembly party, a priming party, a painting party, a basing party, and a texturing party.  Then seal it all.  Good to go.

Sorry, but I'm busy for the next eleven-teen months.

Wow lovely fort, for that amount of guns. I would make one myself and cast them in resin might be much cheaper (though more labor intensive).

There is also Tiger Miniatures with three different gun crews for £4 each and two different guns for £5 each here:  http://tigerminiatures.co.uk/page6.htm

I used the old Hinchcliffe gun for my fort.
Also worth considering Model Ships cannon.  http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/artesania-weaponary.html

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions, they are greatly appreciated.

It seems that my best approach is to make a battery mold for casting several gun barrels at a time. I already have the equipment for casting lead by gravity feed so that will be my first approach. Carriages I can build easily enough.

As for the number of guns; I am actually looking for about forty for the fort. Historically forts were very unlikely to be seriously attacked on all sides at the same time and it was far easier to move guns around on the inside than it was to open a series of saps and emplace a battery on the outside. My real issue is that I have four ships (and more on the ways) that need to be armed. My real need for cannon barrels probably runs to over a hundred.

If you know anyone with access to a lathe, they could probably make a barrel for you quite easily.

Been following this and very impressed. Missed the bit where you modelled the round towers on the corners, could you link to it please?

Those round towers seem to feature heavily on forts of all sizes, do you know what they were called?

the small round tower on top of a bastion is called a Guerite, the fort looks amazing by the way
