TOG2!
« on: November 19, 2017, 08:54:25 AM »
My creative mojo had run low so I decided to stop building sensible things that people actually wanted and build something silly.
What cold be sillier than the TOG2!

Tracks adn rivets mostly left to do.

Amazing! The Old Gang would be proud...
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

well.... splendid for the TOG2....  lol I always remember the reaction of people to it at Bovington... from an Italian friend who was thinking it was a great tank, because he loves the MKV series... to a lady from Cyprus (doping an MA in War Studies) thinking it could only have been a joke, to the PLA tank officer 'My dad (same line of work...) wanted  me to take a pictures of it, to prove it was real"

anyway great work, 20 or 28 (pesky millimeters)?

Thanks!

1/56 ;)  Or 28mm-ish if you insist.

(I'm a scale pedant - to me 28mm is not a scale it's an aesthetic!)

Tracks done.  Pondering the turret studs, not sure how to make lots of small conical rivets...

Nice...

For ready made rivets, check out the Tichy Train Group. They have all sorts of rivets and boltheads in a range of sizes in polystyrene, on sprues. Not that expensive, and a huge time and effort saver!

I bought a sizable load almost 10 years ago and it's still not exhausted...

Thanks, I'll check them out.
Rivets aren't so bad, I've a reasonably quick process that makes nice small rivets.
Bolt heads are harder and less satisfactory.

Started on the turret and side details.  More rivets...  Then it'll be onto the top deck detail.

Its a beast!

Did you see 'Guy Garvey builds a WWI tank' on TV last night. They welded the body of the MkIV tank, but then put thousands of pretend rivet heads on the tank. It made me think of tank builders on LAF and their decorative rivets.
