Nick's VSF Meanderings
« on: November 29, 2017, 07:22:20 AM »
Hi all,

I've recently been working on some VSF minis and thought I would share some photos of what I've done so far.

I started with some alien native types from Iroclad's Sanwar range.

First off the leader of the natives, a shaman.

Then the bulk of their forces a couple of small groups of infantry

The infantry are supported by some lizard cavalry and a 3 barrelled artillery piece.

That's all I've got for the alien native types so far but I do have plans for some expansions to that small force.

Next up on the painting desk is a force of Prussians, I've painted a few minis but still have some way to go with them.

First up for the Prussians is some infantry

and some Automatons

For the Prussians I've still got another group of infantry, another group of automatons, the commanding officer and a small steam tank to paint up. Now if only this rain would stop so I could get outside and spray some undercoat on some minis.

Nice job!

Are the riders separate on the lizards? I'm thinking of adding some Martian beasts to my project at some point and I'm trying to keep an eye out for good beasties.

Thank's all. Hopefully I'll have more to post soon.

Blodwin, I like the lizards too but they were as you say a struggle to put together. I've not done that amount of filing and filling for a long time, well worth the effort though.

Tesla Knight, yes the riders are separate from the lizards, there's a few straps and the like on the lizards but nothing that would be overly difficult to remove.

I'd ask you to send some of that moisture my way, but it'd probably end up as the 's' word, and I AM getting too old for that shovel-s***...

Truly, thou art a better man than I, if the rumors of the daunting work on those beasties is true. In your hands, worth the effort. In mine, just sitting on the pile.

Strangely, though, I'd have to say I found the automatons my favorite bit of work. Well done!

I quite like the automatons and I really like the way you've painted the alien natives  :)

Really like the Alien race.  How do they compared in size to other figure ranges.  Think GW Kroot or Renegade early WW1 figures.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. Getting anything undercoated has been tricky these past few days due to the horrible weather but I have been able to get a few minis done. I'm currently working on the commanding officer of the Prussian force. Just got basing to do so hopefully I will have pictures for you all fairly soon.

Rabbitz I will try to get a comparison picture for you at some point, I may even have some GW kroot somewhere in storage I could use but no promises I'll just have to grab whatever I can find as most of my minis are in storage at the moment while I slowly build my games room.

Hi all,

Sorry it took me so long to get round to posting the promised pictures I've had a very busy week and didn't find the time to any photography.

Anyway enough excuses. First of all here's a picture of the Prussian officer I painted last weekend.

And for Rabbitz here's a quick comparison photo. Unfortunately I couldn't find too many painted minis suitable for a comparison photo so I just grabbed a GW space marine because I figured that most people know how big they are! If I can dig out any other suitable minis I will of course sort something out.
