TSATF using 15mm figures and eliment basing
« on: April 15, 2009, 10:42:35 PM »
For some years now I have gamed TSATF in 15mm basing figures on washers.   I quickly found that the large battles I wanted to play became tedious unless I
used movement trays.

I've tried magnetic trays and ones with holes cut into which the washer bases sit, but for several asthetic and practical reasons, I just don't like movement trays.

Personaly, I think my figures look better based as eliments, but TSATF rules make it problimatic to incorporate eliment basing.  Here are my questions.

1. Has anyone used eliment basing to play TSATF in 15mm?
2. What modifications of the rules have you done to accomidate eliments?
3. How many figures of each type (inf., cav art. )do  you put on a base and what frontages do you use?

I'd be curious to see how this is done myself. I tend to base all my 15mm stuff in elements as moving individual figs is just a pain.

I have seen TSATF played with 15mm both as indidual and muti-figure bases. Although I game in 28mm. Sold off my colonial 15s about a year ago. I believe that they still do 20 bases per unit and play normally, each base behaving as individuals in a one to one game. Have seen it played with either 2 figures on a 3/4 inch or 20mm square base, and 3 to 4 figures on 40mm by 20mm bases.

In response to my own question, I see that 800 Fighting Englishmen is an expansion game to TSATF and appears to use elements in place of single figures.    I ordered these rules today  see http://www.sergeants3.com/18.html

Anyone have experience with 800FE?
