Ultra modern russians and NATO (15mm)
« on: December 09, 2017, 06:10:15 PM »
Hello

I have just ordered a copy of GMT Games new boardgame "Next War: Poland" and that has peeked my interest in doing a possible new project of gaming a present/near future russian invasion of Poland/Baltic states in 15mm.

The trouble is I am having difficulties finding the required models.

Who makes 15mm ultramodern russian infantry?

As a dane, I would like to incl. a danish company as the NATO part of this project. Is there a Leopard 2 A5 or A6 available in 15mm? How about a swedish CV-90 in 15mm?

Also does anyone make canadian or dutch ultra modern infantry that can stand in as danish infantry?

Any help is much appreciated.

Can't recall right now, but believe there may be some available.

Check QRF, Armies Army, etc..  I suspect in a lot of cases, even the Team Yankee "Soviets" will work for modern-day Russian troops, especially in 15mm scale.

QRF is probably the most likely to have ultra-modern armor for your needs.

I'm considering doing something similar, though in 1/144th, and most actions will be in Ukraine.  I've gamed a few skirmishes with just vehicles, for the latter, and they are certainly interesting.

Sounds like you're going to have fun :)

For modern Russian infantry, try Eureka Miniatures:

Quick Reaction Force for some of the other stuff:

But after seeing the Battlefront (Team Yankee) vehicles, I'm more impressed with them.

Not everything you listed is available, but I'll have a hunt in the afternoon.

Edit: like what Mako said. Forgot about Armies Army:

Armies Army has just released/is releasing 15mm Canadians/Dutch that should suit your needs infantry wise.

Can't seem to find a CV90 / Strf90 in 15mm or 1/100.

And there's no Leopard A5 or A6 yet (guessing that will QRF, Armies Army or Battlefront will at some point in the future).

Good luck with this, I'm doing something similar but with the scenario based in the UK.

I look forward to seeing what you are going to do.

Oops, just realised you said Modern. The one I mentioned is Cold War and looks nothing like our current forces.

Thanks for the help  :)

It sounds like the russians are well covered, but the danes are going to be more difficult. Going to have a think about it.

Eureka russians are better for the 90s, early 2000s. for the new uniform look at the oddizal osmy 15, 'little green men' (Magister Militum hhas them in UK, and I suppose Pico in the US).  Today Russians are completely different from the Team Yankee ones! Even in 15mm (oh well 15mm is not that small after all you can quickly spot the differences even in 6mm).

No one do a CV90 in 15mm right now. On shapeways you can find a bit pricey Leo2A6. QRF used to have an A5 (I have two of them) but sadly it is no available right now. But QRF as great up to date German troops.

NW:Poland is a great game! Waiting a copy from Mitchell right now...

Modern danish soldiers look a lot like americans.
The main difference being what scopes they've got on their M4 variants. The webbing is modular so it'll be different for each soldier anyways.

That said I dont know who makes 15mm modern americans...
