Problem with J&M Miniatures (Canada)
« on: December 10, 2017, 06:29:23 PM »

Hello all!

Does anyone know if there’s a problem with J&M Miniatures in Canada (Ontario I think)? I’ve placed on order on November 7th, send a few emails since then I didn’t get any response.

I’ve tried two separate email address to reach them.

Wasn’t one of the owners a member of LAF at some point?

Thanks for the helps! :?
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

I can't help with any contact info, but if they go long enough without a reply, just be sure you ask for a refund through paypal or your credit card company, whichever you used!

(I believe the window is 90 days for credit card companies and 180 for paypal)

A few threads on TMP about problems with J&M Miniatures including a split between the owners and unfulfilled order and no communication.

Thanks for the info… Looks like I was duped by a fully functioning Web page and shopping cart… I had an hard time finding relevant threads on TMP… Seems to be a lot of different ways to spell "J&M Miniatures" when doing feedback search on the Internet >:(

I have lodged two PayPal refunds and I feel that they run this aspect really well. Where my e mails failed to get a response to the traders concerned , Paypal obtained responses . It can still be sorted out during this process but is a good kick up the arse to the traders concerned. In the end you will get your money back but I really wanted my order. At least I am not out of pocket mind.

Good point… even thought this order was quite big (for my current budget), I’m not in a hurry to get the figures. I would prefer to get the stuff I ordered rather than a full reimbursement... The good thing about ordering from Canadian sellers is that you don’t get the risk to be caught by surprise by “custom fees” and other things like that.

...BTW, North Bay Games and Hobbies don't take Paypal, do they?

My understanding is that jamesmanto turned over the business to the other guy.

But he might have a way to contact him...Martin something...

Latest development; I’ve send an email again yesterday adding I was considering cancelling my order thru Paypal as a last resort… I haven’t received a reply to my email but did receive a small (not even 10%) refund. On J&M miniatures site, my order now have a "partially refund" notice instead of a "paid" one but the order status is still "unfulfilled"

Wow, I actually have a friend in North Bay who regularly goes to that shop.

I can ask!

Okay, update!

Unfortunately, the owner does not take paypal as far as my buddy knows (the owner is old and old-fashioned - but a friendly guy at least). However he has done mail order before, so if you give him a call, you might be able to work something out.

If paypal is out, you might be able to do an Interac e-transfer (basically a bank transfer - I've used them five or six times and haven't had any trouble), if you don't have a credit card he can take. You'd have to ask the owner about payment, really, but if he's done mail order before, surely he must take *something* over the phone or via email.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know about Interac e-transfer... I've done several orders with North Bay Games & Hobbies  in the past (back when I had a credit card ;) ) and the owner, I can't remember his name, was always very helpful.

It's run by Interac themselves, so if you have a debit card with any bank (well, in Canada - this isn't much use to any non-Canadian readers), you should be able to use it.

Here's the homepage: http://www.interac.ca/en/interac-e-transfer-consumer.html

Martin Jensen was the other half; he was a Games Workshop Canada refugee. That goes back a LONG way.

Sorry to hear they’ve gone this way.

James Manto sold his interests to his partner Martin Jensen
Martin sold his stock to a party in Welland, but obviously has not shut down the website yet
I have heard the Welland party are selling the stock on eBay
