Song of Drums and Shakos...French and British
« on: December 14, 2017, 08:21:04 AM »
I have just finished my first unit for Song of Drums and Shakos...
12 French Voltigeurs plus an NCO and Officer.
I blame my butterfly for this ...and the beautiful Napoleonic uniforms.
Next up will be some British.
I am hoping to have enough painted to have a game in the new year.

Nice work.  We had our first game of SDS just this last Sunday.

It was a lot of fun; the rules were easy to pick up so the game flowed very quickly, and it made for a the nice change from our usual brigade/division size games.   We'll definitely be playing them again.

Hi Stavka...
Song of Drums and Shakos also strikes me as an easy way to start a Napoleonic collection...

I have chosen 12 man units so that if I want to go a bit bigger I can add more units and start building towards Sharp Practice or a Napoleonic variant of Men Who Would Be Kings...

Of course I could also just paint small forces of all the armies with the prettiest uniforms  :D

All the best. Aly

Really lovely work and as you say a great way to get into napoleonics, using a few figures. :)

Nice work!

I'm going the other way round. Making a big force (for Napoleonic wargaming by Neil Thomas) and everytime I have left over figures from a box I paint them up and set them aside so I can eventually have skirmish games  lol

Front Rank makes excellent sculpts and your paintjob is exceptional!
Happy gaming!

Wouldn’t this be a good way to go for your Potemkin Wars range?

Your not wrong Armchair General...
And I probably have enough painted figures...

This weekend though...
My daughter and I had a jolly fun game... of Drums an Shakos using my French and British.
We chose a forest setting (which would of course work for Russo-Swedes).

As always there is lots up on the blog...
