Southern gothic?
« on: December 17, 2017, 11:45:53 AM »
Are there any model ranges that specialize in Southern gothic style? Especially terrain or diorama wise. I really like this style but beyond the odd voo doo man we don't see much. What is out there?

If you want a fancy centerpiece model, check Etsy for 1/48 or quarter-scale dollhouses.  Tend to pbe pricey, but there's some great looking stuff available: https://www.etsy.com/search?q=1%2F48+victorian&order=most_relevant&view_type=gallery

Redendra do a cabin and a barn that might well be convertible for what you need...

Sarrissa do a ranch house that might be the start of a conversion (not sure how 'gothic' it is?)

they also do some derelict buildings in their ghost town range that might be useful...

Fenris games Griffin House might be a bit too northen gothic...I am not sure (being form the UK)

Lots of good ideas Rob, Southern Gothic covers post ACW to even the modern era.
When I lived in the Carolinas and Georgia you could see many fine examples of SG driving around the country side.
Small shacks in the back woods, old decrepit buildings that would not look out of place in the 30s.
Hell drove by a few towns that where comprised of a Gas station/general store and a dozen or so shacks with one old church on the corner.

Might need to order one or four of those Ranch style homes some time.
I also noticed a few more to add to the list.

These are all fantastic, I didn't know there was so much stuff out there. I wonder if it would be a good idea to put together some sort of group build after Christmas. Get people to build a diorama based on the southern gothic idea, see what we could do with some of these great looking buildings.

I'd be interested. I'd do a terrain piece instead of a diorama, but we are playing Dracula's America set in the deep South, so it would fit right in to what I need.

That TRE building is one of my all time favorites. It works for my Wild West, WW2, Fantasy, as well as pulp. Wish I could get that much mileage out of all my terrain.
