Rebels with a cause (A WH40K2 scenario)
« on: July 15, 2018, 09:33:44 PM »
After about four years of collecting sci-fi civilians and urban scenery, I finally saw my scenario becoming true! I have been toying with this idea for many years, so it's quite an achievement for me to put it everything on a board!

The whole concept was about having some protesters messing with Adeptus Arbites. But when the day came, I had an extra player, so I added a Genestealer Cult. So the scenario starts when the Imperial Governor's barge is taken down on the outskirts of the Hive. He and his retinue must reach the closest Arbites Outpost, but those protesters are not going to let that happen so easily...

The full set of home rules is here: https://oldschoolworkshop.blogspot.com/2018/07/rebels-with-cause-wh40k2-scenario-rules.html
They mainly deal with the use of rioters. I used a system of violence levels for the different groups of protesters, so they could act differently as the confrontation with Imperial authority escalated.

So the Governor is stranded then...

The Arbites try to reach him in the maze of the streets...

But some strange fellas come out from the unde-underhive:

This might be the strangest demonstration ever...

Ouch, this looks like an ambush...

The Governor makes his best to escape, but the rioters are getting progressively angrier.

Time for reinforcements!

Disperse! Nothing to see here! Go back to your homes, citizens!

Still a long way to salvation:

The protesters capture this ornithopter...

...but apparently it's not that easy to fly one of these...

...Not easy at all!

The Cult brings in more reinforcements too

But... what's that? Is it... an Enslaver? :o

(I would be controlling this one as the GM. This was a way of causing more mayhem, but particularly an attempt of balancing things if any of the players was performing way better than the others)

But apparently I had no need of causing any additional mayhem, the players were outstandingly good on that on their own.

Air evacuation and reinforcements finally came!

But the Governor finally falls within a few steps of his liberation!

The final aerial pic:

The game was immensely fun, it really was. A lot of silly things happening every turn and we all crying in laughter. You can find the whole report (with many, many more pics and the full story) here: https://oldschoolworkshop.blogspot.com/2018/07/rebels-with-cause-wh40k2-scenario-game.html

I hope you find it interesting  :D

Looks like one fun game with a great set up.
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Bravo in getting your concept to the table.

I've got a few slow burners going that I really hope to see played through so I can imagine your delight at getting this played.

The scratch built vehicles are great especially the ornithopter!

Thank you! It all was quite a crazy game, from the beginning to the end, with many silly things happening at the same time each turn; so well, what can I say, that's the kind of stuff I enjoy more :D

About the ornithopter, 3 fingers got it right, it's a prototype Scalene designed and it was meant to set into production by Ramschackle. Here are my mumblings about it. As far as I'm concerned, it still lacks the wing support pieces (which I had to improvise) before it can go under commercial production. Anyway, if you approach Curtis from Ramshackle about it I guess something can be done.
