Historical or Hollywoodesque?
« on: December 20, 2017, 11:34:36 AM »
Hi

After watching Godless and reading Cozzens' The Earth is Wheeping, I started giving some thoughts at collecting a few minis for some skirmish set in the Old West. There are a few good rulesets over there, so that flank is covered. However, what there is not is a good range of historically accurate, rather than Hollywoodesque, Cowboys, Indians and Cavalry types. I wonder if there is not a market over there for such endeavour, something akin at what Iron Duke Miniatures is doing for the Indian Mutiny.

But perhaps it is just me who desire such a thing, and most people are perfectly happy with Hollywood-type miniatures. What do you think? Would be viable a historically accurate range for the Old West and the Indian Wars?

The real Old Wild West was hard, dirty, smelly, savage and highly dangerous... so they invented Cowboy films to mend it!
Get Blondie, Tuco and Angel Eyes, then add a sprinkling of The Dook, Earps and Clanton type border trash... garnish with the good Baron's 'Fistful of Lead' rules and make yersen a gun toting leg-end!

Avoid this kind of sacrilege completely...

Check out Knuckleduster Miniatures - an excellent line of Old West minis which covers all sorts of more "normal" minis as well as Hollywood figures. He has an excellent range of civilians, passers-by and less than competent looking Cowboys.  Ladies of ill-repute, etc.
