That’s great mate! I was wondering where you were going with this, but this is going to be good with your skills!

Are you going to paint over the clear plastic? Would some of it not looked good, see-through?

Cheers, mate.
I know the earlier pics really did not show what was happening but these should give a hint as to the final intention.
Plenty more to do yet, though, loads more!

As for the plastic: I am torn with painting it of not and may opt for more of a kind of colour 'wash' over the 'windows' to allow that, although I may well just go with painting them in.

Those MDF offcuts have provided some nice shapes for the windows, I reckon.
 :)

Oh, yes.
This is just the basic structure.
There is plenty more to add, including more levels.
And once that is done I can get on to the fun part: The detailing.
 ;)

Most excellent, can't wait to see it finished :)

I am privileged enough to see the work being done as it happens as Mason kindly allows me into his home to share his kitchen table, slapping some paint on little plastic men. He even makes me cups of coffee! It's enthralling watching the great man work, and I can see how well this one is progressing. It's gonna be good when it's finished, and it is fiendishly ingenious. In the presence of greatness indeed :).

I love that staircase!
And the transparent stuff gets me thinking too - I could see an observation lounge or 'solar' built over an antique and scrappy looking building  :D 8) 8)

My thoughts exactly, as that is the fun part, but I still have a fair bit more to build yet.....
 ;)

The staircase is a doddle, just the same shape stuck on top of each other at an angle each time.
As for the transparent stuff: I really am unsure but will probably just paint the windows as it may just end up looking like a bit of clear plastic compared to the rest of it if I dont.....

Print out some sci-fi shopfront/curtains mate and stick them inside the perspex box. It may work awesome or may just help you visualise how the build will look with a little paint.

Good on you Legionnaire Burt, flatter the barista away for more cups of his handcrafted coffee.

Cheers
Matt

How had I missed this? :o
Wow, the use of all the pieces! :-* It's highly inspirational, you just discovered me a world of ideas. Brilliant work!

Thanks for the encouragement, chaps.
Much appreciated.
 :)

I will probably go for 'painted' windows as that will be easier in the long run as there are quite a lot of buildings that will need the same treatment in the end.

There has been a little bit of progress but not much. Going to see Darkest Hour ate into the available time this week, but it was worth it. Piccies later if I get a chance....

Piccies much later....
 ::)

Progress so far.
It is starting to come together as a viable shape now.
There are two more sections to add, one at either end on top of the flat areas, before I can get to adding a few details.
I am hoping to get the rest of the main pieces built by the end of the weekend so that detailing can begin next week.
Fingers crossed on that one.

These shots show a view from either side, the breakdown of the parts for storage, and finally, a quick stack of the pieces so far to see just what size box the extension will need to be stored in so far....

This is getting more and more interesting.
I think a certain cowboy android would fit in beautifully there....
