Pelvis complete. This was a cube with a series of parabolic arcs taken out of it.

I like that! It has a very Laputa vibe going for it! 8)

Have you thought of colour schemes already?

Originally I had though just a metallic steel colour. But after seeing it red I might go for a weathered red look. I quite like it.

Something that was annoying me was the fact that the torso oval was made up of 20 sides (Circles are not actually circles in Tinkercad just multisided shapes.) So I had to ungroup all of the pieces I had grouped together (which you can see in the first picture) and break it down so that I could change the torso pieces. I upped the sides on the "ovals" to about 60 or so (maybe 64?) so that it created a much smoother appearance for the torso. I decided to do this now rather than much later when breaking it up would have been much more time consuming. I had to put everything back in the correct order as well so that the subtractive pieces didn't remove the wrong part of the sculpt.
You can see in the bottom picture, the one on the right has a much smoother torso.
ADDED A BETTER PHOTO OF THE FINAL RESULT

What about doing the Laputa type scene with it. Make it all rusty, worn and beaten up, with moss covering it? Have the kids ready to turn on the huge hulking war machine not knowing what it is?

Never heard of Laputa before. It has a nice look to it and definitely seems ill advised.

Here are the next pics showing How I created the thighs.

The first picture shows the thigh front completed (Back still needs doing).
In the background you can see me basically putting in some placeholder pieces to see what leg sizes might work. (1 minute work, end result will look much nicer)

Basically all these pictures are back to front as I made the shape first then showed how I made it afterwards.

The 3rd pic shows how I designed the shape for the front. I had a semicircle that I rotated to the position I wanted.
I removed the parts I didn't want, then I duplicated and reversed the shape to keep it symmetrical.

In the 2nd pic I guess you could say I made a 3d mold. So I took the shape from the last picture and made it a subtractive piece. I made a box and "cut" the shape into it.
I then made this new "mold" into a subtractive piece and chopped it out of the basic thigh shape, giving the final result in the first picture.

If you don't mind watching anime I recommend you give it a go. One of my favorite Miyazaki films, beside Nausicaä.

It's interesting to see the design process. I took some CAD courses back in college and liked it, but never used it for anything...

I'm happy to watch anime, as long as it is recommended as good, which this one seems to be.

Thanks :)
Latest picture. Very complicated getting it to the shape suffice to say it involved a lot of curves and pulling everything apart.
I've popped in an exploded version to show some of the parts (not all though) that I used to put this together.
The foot is not complete and there will be a joint between the thigh and massive calf.

Ditto! What size is this guy going to be? I might be being blind, but I can't see a scale anywhere! :?

I was thinking scale wise it would be about 8-9 feet tall. Each of the little boxes on the floor is 1mmx1mm but really I can make it as big or as small as I want. I might print a few at different sizes and see which one I want to use.
