They work really well. The underside are really crisp and the supports pull away with very little work leaving hardly any support plastic on the underside, I say very little but I don't really notice any at all. I'm very impressed by the.supports on this. They are also very thin. The lower part is just one printed line, nothing in behind that.

I actually liked the appearance with supports too - it looked a lot like a gigantic Iron-Giant sized machine under construction with scaffolding all round it  :D

This is seriously becoming educational. Can't wait to see the big one - and a finished version all done up and painted (sigh, 5 more weeks for that...) 8) 8) 8)

I've got the bigger one done (but accidentally pulled some fingers off, I'll just resculpt with GS) Overnight I put on a new print of it. This one is taking 18hrs to print. This one is not actually for the Build Something though. I'll probably use it as an example of what you can build on a 3d printer for my students.

What height is the new, bigger one?

Sorry, haven't taken any photos of the new one yet but I will.
Unfortunately I don't think I will be able to finish this. I will be able to paint the golem but the ropeswing side of things is completely in the too-long-to-complete-as-I-have-too-much-work-on-now basket.
I'll happily finish painting it and show pics of that if people want but I think it kind of puts me out of the contest (Weight of my shoulders though)

What a wonderful creation! Many thanks, like others have said before, for showing the process of it all.

If you are running out of time, maybe come up with a clever fast solution to finish it off. Place the poor golem standing on pool of water (water effects) and paint rust forming on its feet and legs, like it was created and left unused in some wet corner of a dungeon for a small eternity, thus leaving it to rust. And thus the sad face and posture of it :D That's rather ill-advised by the wizard who created it ;)

Not a bad idea. I was thinking of painting it rusted anyway. Don't have any water effects and money is a bit tight at the moment, I may see what I can do.

Acrylic gloss varnish works nicely for small pools of water and a general wet look like a dungeon might have. Massively cheaper than any of the "real" water effects, you should be able to get it for a couple of bucks at any craft store with a decent selection of craft paints.

I don't have any photos but I recently did up a couple of stands of farm animals (scenery or loot!) with some nice mud and puddle effects just with gloss varnish.

Acrylic Gloss I have. I'll probably try to get some time finishing that tonight or the weekend. No other time!

In fact maybe I could reprint one minus some of the leg section so it looks semi-submerged.
I may even use some Tamiya clear green to make it look stagnant

Photo submitted. It isn't my original plan so please message Vanvlak if it is a problem and goes against the spirit of the contest.

Cheers. It has been great to watch all of the "somethings" take shape. Great time of year for inspiration.
