I have a pretty good start to this Army and they may eventually become two separate forces:

That’s everything completely painted.

On hand:

16 handgunners
5 more pistolliers
8 knights
7 more Voland’s Venators

Lovely stuff - bringing back some very happy memories for me, as that last guy was one of my first miniatures.

Thanks, jambo1 and von Lucky!

The effect of the cavalry on the oval bases are a revelation

Thanks, I do like how they turned out.  The bases are from warbases and are 25x50.  I didn’t get them slotted (I had them for other miniatures) so it requires me to cut the plastic runners off of the horses. In the future I will ensure to buy slotted bases. Also, the older Voland’s Venators fit nicely onto the 25x50, but those pistolliers are a little larger.  I see why the official GW oval bases are the size they are.

Finished up some handgunners and more pistoliers today.

And the army as it now stands.  Loads of firepower!  Melee troops are in the pipe.

Wonderful mix of older and newer stuff there. The DoW are one of my favourite classic armies!

A Dogs of War update today.  Actually painted 9 knights, 8 with the red and black shields and one more to go with the white shields I previously painted.  I won these in an eBay auction from Australia and they came with the old Chaos Knight horses.  The Chaos Horses led me to use the red and black shield design.  I felt it would look a little more sinister to match the horses.

The Dogs of War force so far.

I’m currently painting 8 Empire Knights for my Stirland Army and I ordered some Renaissance Italian crossbowmen from TAG for the next DoW unit.

The older empire/ dogs of war stuff were very nice miniatures and you've done a nice job on the painting. I have to admit though years of conditioning mean I find Warhammer fantasy miniatures on round bases weird to look at  o_o

Thanks, it can be a little strange but I think I’ve gotten used to it.  Of course being a more of a painter and collector these days makes it even easier!
