Supergirl
« on: December 29, 2017, 03:50:33 PM »
Commission job and as the title says, it's Supergirl. This is by Knight Models and I thought it was a really nice figure. I've not been the biggest fan of KM sculpts over the years but this one is a lot better than the older stuff I've painted in the past. The Star Wars sculpts were 'mixed' at best shall we say. Painted just before Xmas but food, booze and Fallout 4 (thanks to a new and more importantly, working GPU!) have kept me from getting pics done. ;)

Very nice paint job.

Not quite convinced about the sculpting of the face, but a lovely paint job.

Beautiful blends.  The stark base is a nice contrast to the vivid blue and red of the uniform.

Beautiful paint job, even if I'm not 100% sold on the sculpt.  The face does feel off somehow, but it's the weird panel lines on the costume that really bug me.  Still, at least Kara's not tarting it up with an exposed midriff nor is she randomly sprouting fiery wings, so could certainly be a worse take on the character.  :)

If it wasn't a paid job I'd suggest adding to the rock she's lifting.  Make it much, much bigger, say ten times the size of the fig itself and really show off those Kryptonian muscles.  Have to go mostly vertical on it so the fig isn't occluded too much and the base would need to be bigger for stability, but making it absurdly huge would fit the character nicely.

Great paint job.

I like the fig except for the rock. Wish it was just her hand.

If I had the skill I'd cut it off and replace it or sculpt a new one.

I don't have the skill and would make a hash of it. So no fig for me.
Wait, I can't let you give me your last eight dollars. Here's five back.

Interesting point about the rock, for me it would slightly detract from the figure's utility as a gaming piece. I could certainly see the figure of lifting something larger (car?).

The panel lines are a reflection of "current" styles in close fitting clothing, tailored rather than the old style vac-form lycra. Of course they probably should be raised rather than inset.

The paint job is still excellent.

That'd work too, anything bigger would sell the concept.  Bonus points if it's the same green car her cousin is tossing around on the cover of Action Comics #1.  :)

Yeah, I know.  Just don't much care for New 52 era aesthetics compared to the older stylings.

Absolutely.  Wonderfully rich colors.

Bold, neat colors, very well done face expression and eyes, even the rock looks very realistic! Cheers!
