28mm Mesoamericans - Mayans, Incans and Aztecs?
« on: December 31, 2017, 10:25:57 AM »
I watched Apocalypto last night (up to date on my movies!) and I'm genuinely inspired to make a fanciful (but more pulp-y) Mesoamerican force.

The problem is that it seems quite hard to find miniatures for this period, especially more modern / "prettier" ones. I have no problem missing out on a bit of historical accuracy, either.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Maybe the mesoamerican range by Gringo will fit in.

Gringos are spot on for Apocalypto. The protagonists were typically in the film forest tribes. If you want some others the Jaguar Warriors from Lucid eye are in fact Huaxtec warriors and would work well

Copplestone castings South American Indians would work well for the good guys in the film

I'm not sure I would've even asked if I'd realised that Lucid Eye were doing some, though! Thanks!

You also have the Freebooters Fate and Shadow Sea Amazons which would probably work rather well for a more pulpy look

All of the above, plus Foundry's range is quite nice.

Also Outland, IIRC.

The Pendraken Mexicans are nearly ready - should be on the shelves by the end of the month, DV.

Eureka miniatures have a range of Aztecs but also have some unreleased Mayans and Tlaxcalans that could probably be obtained by emailing them.
